Can Malcom Butler be converted to safety?

I know it's the off-season but the number of dumb threads this year is staggeringly high.

Why would you even think about moving him to Safety?

We had bad results last year playing musical chairs with our offensive line. Better off to leave
McCourty and Chung at safeties, Arrington to cover the slot, and Ryan, Dennard, and Butler to
fight for the other two openings.

Butler's strength seems to be quickness in man coverage. Why on god's green earth, having lost two CBs in the offseason, would you want to move one of your likely CB starters to safety?

What am I missing? The Pats haven't lost any safeties...

I think his ball skills and how hard he fights for it are his biggest strengths. The kid competes hard.

I believe Arrington would be a better safety candidate than Butler because Arrington has trouble following the ball in the air while running down field in coverage.

McCourty had the same problems back when he was a corner.
