I think there's a lot to this. And if it's true, we'll continue to trade picks away Sunday. Also, next year we won't have any compensatory picks, so we would have had "only" 7 2008 picks. Now it'll be more. Coming into 2008 with 2 1sts, 1 2nd, and 2 3rds will feel pretty good.

If we have injuries, we play backups.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, but I mean, yeah, if our first string guys get hurt, we probably have a dropoff. You can't have 53 starters on a roster.

I just don't think the Pats wanted to spend first day draft picks on players that might not make the roster. That's how I read it. They can draft a ton of players who might not make the roster on day 2.

the off season is not over they can sign players up to september and they always bring in a vet during training camo relax

Day 2's coming up soon... but I wanted to get a word in about 6/2 cuts - you want to spend some cash on those guys rather than draft picks? Day 1 was the time to take that into consideration (along with all the other considerations.) Just sayin'.

And I don't believe for a minute that anything is connected to a bloody Randy Moss trade. Unless of course it is.

They are certainly going to have to address LB in FA but that really shouldn't shock us. Hartwell, Polk, Seau and others are still out there.

Also remember next year is going to be a deeper draft and we'll get no comp picks next year so obviously the Pats have taken all this into consideration and made all of the FA pickups this year figuring the draft wouldn't be of much value and now they are planning ahead.
