For the life of me I can't understand why the starting RB's were Vereen and Bolden. If they wanted to run inside the tackles why wasn't Blount in there earlier?

Bolden was hot and playing great. Ripped off 2 nice runs for the TD before Mickey D sat him down.

In both cases Brady didn't have enough time to go through all reads. And this was not a problem based on how the routes were set up but he was not given enough time by the OL. As much as it hurts take a look at the Welker drop from the SB and the massacre that goes on around Brady.

I can't fault Brady for Gronk being his first read on that play. And if the timer goes off in his head then it is not surprising that he won't get through all progressions..

He had an easy 5-6 yard completion over the middle on that play. If Gronk was his first read, i disagree with the first read. I'm with the group who say that even if Gronk caught that, we would have needed two to hope for overtime. Rodgers certainly would have gotten down the field enough for an FG with 2:40 and 3 timeouts in hand AT HOME.

At the very least, the Pats should have looked to run the clock down to where the Packers needed to expend a couple of those TO's, and left them with less than 90 seconds. Then I feel a lot better.

But that's one drive. I could just as easily point to the beginning of the game for this loss - we were owned in the 1st quarter.

Because the small sample size was tainted by a couple of dropped, easy TDs.... as has already been discussed.

You can repeat this as often as you want, but it will remain crap. There was ONE easy, dropped TD at the end by Adams. That's it. There were definitely not multiple occasions for easy TDs. It is amazing how people just don't want to give any credit to the redzone defense.

I know Gronk was the best option on that play, my contention is that that play call was not the best given the circumstances. With that amount of time remaining, I wanted to see them take their time. This isn't results based, I said so at the time. I also was hoping they would do something a little quicker on 3rd down to make it a manageable 4th. Either you're playing for the final drive or you're not.

I understand your point and I agree that running some time away would have been ideal. However, I also understand that if you see a mismatch on your superstar player at the end of a game you go for the TD. Don't get me wrong, I fully understand your point about the clock and it being a final drive but situationally it is difficult for me to feel bad about that throw.

I looked at the play again. Gronk was aligned outside, Brady saw the mismatch presnap and stuck with it. It is true that Vereen was available 6 yards into the middle of the field. However, Brady never looked there. He saw Gronk having a step on Clinton-Dix and never looked anywhere else.

I agree that it might have made more sense to take the 6 yards and make it at least 3rd & 3. Vereen might have been able to get a first down since the outside was cleared up by Gronk. I see your point, agree that given everything it might have been the option with the highest percentage but honestly can't get too angry about going for the TD in this situation.

Can't really argue with this. I clearly remember triumph saying in late September, when he was last here, that giving Bolden the rock 20 times would be the key to beating Green Bay.
