I like smith but I want to keep McQuaid and boychuck a lot more.Yes to dumping Fartkowski ASAP. But they also need all the scoring they can get, so Reilly Smith
has to be signed. Hard to believe that the Chiapet has painted himself into such a corner that he
can't afford someone as relatively inexpensive as Smith.
that may be true but you cant keep somebody on the team because a trade you made doesnt look so good. they had to make hard choices. they decided to keep there core group together knowing it would hurt roster flexability. they could have let krejci bergeron and rask go. they all signed long term deals. If the Chiapet allows Smith to walk, then the Tyler Seguin trade will look much worse than it already does.
your right it is but he would have got more from another team. That contract given to Krejci was ******ed.
no not all. its was likely. have you seen the crazy contracts teams in the nhl are throwing around now? he took a home town discount.Doubtful.
they were paid less than what they would have recieved on the open market.Krejci, Bergeron, Lucic, Marchand all should've been signed to contracts for at least $1M less/season
than they were. Plenty of cash then for Krug & Smith.
