Patriots Swap Talib For Revis, Literally

Okay, you have a cornerback who is the best the team has had in s...
Good points Bob, but you have left out one part of the actual brilliance of this move.
Talib, who was never franchise tagged or released, left NE as an
Unrestricted Free Agent. With the $9.5 mil average per year contract he signed with Denver, that would qualify NE for a 3rd round compensatory selection in the 2015 draft unless NE signs another UFA of close to equal value.
Now comes Revis, who we sign for 1 year $12 mil. Except he wasn't a UFA that would count against the loss of Talib. He was
cut by his former team, we didn't sign him away. Now we have a hired mercenary (awesome) who's obviously here for one reason and one reason alone, and it's not Mevis only plays for money this time. He took a $4 mil cut in pay in a market where could have absolutely gotten more.
This dude wants a ring. And if he gets it or not and decides to take his services elsewhere, as a UFA, because he assuredly won't get cut on a 1 year deal, he to will qualify us for a 3rd next year considering his market value, provided we don't sign a player of equal or compareable value.
I think we as Patriot fans should thank both Tampa Bay and Denver for facilitating this Talib for Revis and 2 3rd round picks trade. Or maybe we can just own the truth. Belichick is a freakin'
GENIUS, and played everybody.
