According to Todd McShay on SportsCenter, Reggie ran a 4.35 on GRASS (slower surface than the Indy turf at the Combine) at the Florida Pro Day today.

Please, God, get this guy in the New England Patriots!

Only 23 players can go before pick #24. This happens every year, though, everyone we want "will never be there".

There's a report linked on PFT that says the 'Boys (#22) have the hots for him. I don't see many (any?) mocks where he's still on the board at 24.

I don't expect to get him at #24 but the "he'll never be there" game gets a little old every year.

I still think Michael Griffin will be a nice pick for Belichick as he doubles as an excellent ST player.

I get less and less impressed by these "measurables" every year. A guy can run a 4.3 40 in shorts- big deal.

Is the guy a football player? Is he smart? Does he put the team first? Those are the important measurables.

The good news is if Nelson cannot pick up the system, BB will know with in 5 minutes of his visit to Gillette and Nelson will hear "Good luck in your NFL career", quickly.

That's why I would not select him if available. Now, if he were a CB, being "differently abled" wouldn't matter as much.

That's why Michael Griffin would be my choice at either 24 or 28, depending on whether Willis or Posluszny, or even Anthony Spencer, were still on the board at 24.

Which ones? I've read many reports and that is what he does best.

Now, the "negitive" on Willis is coverage. He has not been asked to do that much.

But, I'd be interested to hear which scouts said that. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Even the professional scouts differ.

And you are right. No matter how much we as fans put into the draft. We should know 1/100th of what BB and Scott would know about a players. And they have misses too.

I wouldn't move up to get Nelson. I actually think there is an OK chance that he will be there at #24, almost like Vince Wilfork fell to us.

Now, if he does fall, do we take him? I'd rather get Willis if he is there (I don't expect him to be) or take a CB at that spot.

While I certainly would like to have Nelson, I would rather take Griffin at #28 and use the #24 pick on somebody else, but I REALLY like Griffin .

A bunch of posts here speculated on this after the senior bowl where he was great if he came off the ball unblocked and could fill holes but when a lineman got on him he had a hard time getting off the blocks.

He has a muscular build but he does not possess ideal lower-body thickness. Plays a bit high at times and will let too many defenders get into his body. He is above average in terms of range in coverage, but he can be slow to diagnose at times. He also displays below-average ball skills in coverage. Plays through pain but he has had trouble staying healthy throughout his career and always seems to be battling lingering injuries, some of which include knee, finger, foot and shoulder.

The rest can be coached and his "bulK' can be improved through the weight/conditiong program. He does have the frame to add bulk, in the right way, so it doesn't effect his speed.

That is good info. No one expects a finished product from a rookie. But the part that I highlighted does give me some pause. That is the opposite from some of the other scouting reports that I have read, PFW,GMjr,and some on line stuff.

The rest can be coached and his "bulK' can be improved through the weight/conditiong program. He does have the frame to add bulk, in the right way, so it doesn't effect his speed.

I agree and I like Willis but when you read that he's good from sideline to sideline but doesn't shed blocks wells, needs to add size and is often injured, it leads me to red flag his ability to be able to play in a 3-4 and take on guards week in and week out over a NFL length schedule.

Certainly you have to love that he plays through it, has great speed, and can often move through traffic to make plays. I'm sure they will get a feel for how quickly they could coach him up in the passing game.
