It's always interesting to project what the Pats will do in the draft, as they have a history of going against what the fans and media are thinking. One only need to look at their recent history of drafting TEs. However, given what's transpired this far, the TE drafting decisions make sense.
That being said, defensive secondary has got to be a priority. If there is a player who is a strong candidate for LB, whether he's a DE or LB, getting younger and deeper at that position is a priority as well. My guess is considering Asante's situation, it's even more reason for the team to choose an impact CB. Having a good rookie CB on board gives them much more flexibility in negotiations with Asante.
The strong statement made during the FA period means that the team now has great flexibility in the draft and can get creative with best player available rather than be constrained to choose for a specific need throughout the draft. I believe this is where BB/SP are at their best. This draft will be fun to watch.
