Rumor - McDaniels to be the Browns HC

Maybe because last year's offense was transcendent and this year he made chicken salad out of chicken ****.

I don’t agree, the offense has not translucent last season, the defense forced 40 turnovers that is a lot more opportunity that resulted in points. This season the offense was not effective without Gronkowski.

Tom Brady is the best QB to ever play the game, there is nothing chicken **** about that.

When it snows, the offense is opaque.

The offense last year was the best offense I've ever seen from the Patriots.

They are the 4th ranked offense all-time in points, and although they are behind the 2007 Patriots, they scored those points methodically and efficiently, whereas the 2007 Patriots were bombs away.

I think you are trying to say the offense was not that great last year because it got more opportunities to score. It scored about 100 points more than the next best team, and opportunities matter little if the offense cannot put the ball in the endzone. The team also ranked 2nd all time in plays run in a season, which means the offense was capable of moving the chains and sustaining drives. It was about 600 yards off the record for yards gained by an offense in the season. If you are saying that is not impressive, then you must be frequently disappointed by the offensive performances with any OC.

And the fact the Pats were not as effective without Gronk is McDaniels's fault how? He didn't eliminate Hernandez, Welker, Lloyd, and Woodhead from the lineup. He planned for an offense that worked perfectly last year, and it was dismantled to be replaced by rookies. McDaniels cannot eliminate drops, and he cannot transform rookie wideouts into Gronkowski. Nor can he magically heal Gronkowski and get him back on the field. If you believe a 'good' OC can do any of those things, then you need to read more on the great OCs of the past because you simply don't understand the job of the OC.

Everybody in the media dumped on Brady early this year, when anyone with a clue could see it was personnel changes. As the personnel grew into the system, Brady looked more like Brady. He is the GOAT, but he cannot throw and catch the ball himself. He cannot stop Ridley from fumbling. Neither can McDaniels.

I'm a big McDaniels fan. I think he calls a good game. I was highly critical of O'Brien though.

Let's face it, the best coordinators are in the stands or on the couch at home. Everything is so damn easy from there.

I don’t have an issue with McDaniels I think he does a lot of things well and also has some areas of concern. I did a good job developing Edelman over the past 2 seasons and I was impressed with the development of players like Develin, Blount and a few others as the season progressed. Putting that aside if there was a chance McDaniels would go to Cleveland and trade us a 3rd round pick or higher for Ryan Mallett I would be ecstatic. If that wouldn’t happen I would prefer to have Josh back for consistency if nothing else.

The opinion of someone who is in a position to judge:

4. On if Josh McDaniels, who is rumored to be a possible target for the Browns' head coaching vacancy, is a different coach in his second stint as the Patriots offensive coordinator: "Josh is the best offensive coach I could ever imagine. He's so prepared, he's so confident in what he does. He figures out a way each week to get us in the best position as players to win. I have so much respect for him and what he does for me, what he does for our team, he's just a great coach. He's got a lot of poise, he's got a lot of discipline. And I hope he doesn't go anywhere, I'd love for him to coach me the rest of my life. But that's just the way it is, he's one of my best friends and I love having him."

He had a nice start in Denver but then he flopped. He also flopped in St. Louis.

Of course he's gonna do well here in NE, he's got Brady as his QB.

If he goes, so be it. Our offense will survive.

A good OC is worth 5 3rd round picks, never mind losing a backup QB.

I gotta agree, Brady has made stars out of Weis, McDaniels and O'Brien. This is the most coveted job in all of sports.

I doubt McDaniels would take the job. Mangini took the Browns job after getting fired from the Jets and he's been in (NFL) witness protection ever since. In other words, you only get so many chances in the National Football League. Do you really want to roll the dice on the Browns franchise when you'll most likely have your pick of teams to choose from in the future?? Including, possibly, the Patriots?

Seriously I wished for this when I blew out my birthday candles. McDaniels to Cleveland, McDaniels trades for Mallett giving us a 1st or 2nd round pick in return…

Leaving the Pats no triained successor candidate. You're D_A_F_T !!!

I tend to agree. Although it was the year without Brady that I really think helped McD land the Bronks job.

BOB is a good coach. Part of me is a little annoyed that he is looking to jump from PSU after two years however I do think he did a decent job of stabilizing the program. After all, we are all employees at will.

Generally I agree but I don’t have too much concern with Belichick having a replacement already lined up. I was hoping for a first rounder because McDaniels and Lombardi goes crazy together and thing Mallett is the second coming.

They apparently plan on keeping Norv Turner so MacDaniels really doesn't seem to be the target.
