And this is exactly why that's such a stupid rule. If the refs aren't watching for it after an 80 yard touchdown, then when are they watching for it? And if they're not watching for it, then why make it a penalty? The only other alternative is that they saw it and don't care. In either case, selective enforcement of the rule in obvious situations is far worse than not having the rule in the first place.

Where is Meathead? He went on and on about a penalty that went unnoticed in the NO game after the Panthers flag pick up game. Dude seemed like an expert.

If the refs had seen that it would've been a 15-yard penalty. The "slit-throat" gesture was outlawed by the league years ago.

I'm not to sure about that today the way boogar and crew were calling the game. i'm not sure it would have called it if they had seen it.

Folks, sorry, I just got back to this thread. I didn't think it deserved a penalty because I forgot the rule against it, so I never clarified where he did it.

He didn't do it in the end zone, he did it as he was coming up the field on the Cleveland sideline after the TD. The camera was right on him, up close. It wasn't a long distance thing. It was the sideline cameraman and he was no more than 5 feet from Gordon. The whole screen was Gordon's upper body and then the throat slit gesture.

He did it on his sideline so the ref didn't see it. But he eye in the sky did see it and the NFL office should be sending Josh a letter.
