Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Nope. Not too late. In fact they'd be quite accurate.

That's only because all of you saying things like that could take a hit like that and just pop right back up unharmed. You guys are sooooo tough, too bad gronk isn't as tough as you. What a bunch of flaming douchebags.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Agree. You simply cannot go into next season with Rob Gronkowski in the role of an indispensable part of the offense.
This is the 3rd year in a row......
Consider him an O lineman on the roster, rebuild the TE position and include Gronk in the O but this team needs to move away from him being the man.

Yep. Gronk is a totally unique talent, but you can't rely this heavily on one guy, as our last SB loss proved. I'm sure the Pats are aware of this, but they've done little to rectify it IMO. Letting Welker walk certainly didn't help.

Much as I love the Patriots they have some of the worst fans on earth, and yes, I am talking about you.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

The 2010 Packers say "Hi". They had 15 players go on IR plus one player suspended.

Most of those Packer injuries were no namers. Burnett, Finely, Newhouse, and Barnett are nowhere on the level of Mayo, Wilfork, Kelly, Gronk, and Vollmer.

The good news is they were 5-1 without him, and all their points today were Gronkless. Obviously they're a better offense with him — and the D was healthier when he was out — but there is some depth now among receivers and backs. KT and Dobson being healthy would obviously help.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

He's an exceptional talent who can't stay on the field and that fact has already cost the Patriots 1 Super Bowl championship and possibly a shot at one this season.
Gronk wasn't taken out by a career-threatening cheap shot. He was taken out by a legit hit. Dude is 6' 7" and if you're a DB you're taking him down low.

Are you serious? Have you even thought about the fact that Patriots probably don't even make it as far as the Superbowl without Gronkowski?

That is the type of hit tailor-made to take out the knee. Heck, if I asked someone to go wreck someone's knee on the field, I don't think they would be able to come up with a better move than that. I know it is somehow "legit" by the rules but that does not make it any less of a cheap shot by any standards of sportsmanship. The rules are broken.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

The rules ARE broken.
I've never cringed in anguish before from a classic Rodney Harrison missile to the head to break up a play.

Watching Gronk get hit like that was like watching someone get kicked in the balls. Totally cheap, totally dirty.

If thats a legal hit then our safeties need to get the memo and we can just start going Tonya Harding on every threatening receiver we face in the 1st quarter.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

We may not see Gronk until next December. Surgery on his back, multiple surgeries on his arm now an acl injury. The Gronk we knew could be done.

I hear ya, but 2 of those 5 were miracles like today. They just have to find a way to get it done, and I think they can if KT or Dobson can come back and produce.

This is one of the dumbest posts of the season.

I know it's fun to be dramatic, but comments like this are based on nothing. He was back to being a monster even with "his back, multiple surgeries on his arm." Torn acls aren't remotely a death sentence.

This SUCKS, but it sucks for this year. "Could be done" is just dopey.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

I can't even enjoy the win because of this.

Someone head over to Gillette Stadium pop that guy's head off (whoever hit Gronk low)

The NFL should also be disgusted with themselves. Teams are losing important players, many of them Pro-Bowl worthy, thanks to their pathetic attempt at changing the way the game is played.

Ask ANY player in the league, they would rather have a head/upper body injury than a blown out knee

This is pretty much what Scott Zolak said during Patriot's Fifth Quarter. The NFL is ruling itself into a tight corner. (No pun intended.)

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Disagree. That season was the hangover season of all time. No way the Pats were winning the Super Bowl that year. This year, the Pats have taken SO many hits....but at least Gronk was finally all the way back. Gronk injuries have already cost the Pats probable Super Bowl wins. And now this. Agree with the poster who said it was the worst.

But it this way...today was an INCREDIBLE victory. Are you happy?

So are you saying you'd rather have Brady go out than Gronk? Come on.

With Brady, we always have a chance. Always.

keep hoping for this like you did in the game thread. Medical science is against you.

Adrian Peterson tore his ACL and MCL December 18, 2011 and won the league MVP in 2012. So there is no reason to believe that Gronk won't be back at 100% for the regular season.

This time off can only help his other injuries. tearing his ACL isn't going to make his arm or back any worse. In fact, it will give them more rest for to be better next season.

Gronk should be back to Gronk at the start of next season. His long term prospects are potentially hurt by this injury. He may not last ten years.

By saying he may not be back until December next year is totally ignorant of medical science. Players are returning from ACL surgery in six months these days. Gronk has ten months before the start of the 2014 season.

As my coworker, a Jet fan always says, "Tom Brady makes mediocre players look good, good ones look great".

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Ward has explicitly played the "Goodell made me go low" card.

Ward blames NFL rules for low hit on Gronkowski | Comcast SportsNet - CSNNE.com

I don't blame Ward for the hit at all. As much as he is disliked Meriweather was right. If the tacklers can't hit high then they'll be forced to go low and risk all kinds of lower body injuries.

The loss of Gronk is devastating, and its tragic to see what the guy has gone thru with his injuries. Can our offense remain good enough to carry a poor defense? We shall see but for the moment we are 10-3. Something to feel good about.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Yea, it doesn't hurt the Pats' offense at all when opponents can focus mainly on shutting down one guy in the passing game, not two.

Re: Report: Rob Gronkowski tore his ACL

Is there any TE worth signing still out there ? DJ Williams who we signed and then released recently may be helpful. How about the kid from Clemson we had in camp, Ford ?
