The OFFICIAL Patriots vs. Browns Post Game Thread

I wish Sudfeld had stuck. Looked good in preseason and like the kid receivers started bad in the games. The kids who stuck look ok.

He has a grand total of 4 catches for 56 yards with the JEST.

Re: Patriots versus Brown postgame thread

Too bad there is already a post game thread going on, Deus..

How so? The team never quit.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that we didn't play a complete game. Maybe a complete quarter at best. We won, I'm happy about that. Losing gronk hurts bad, and the coming out flat for the 1st half leaves me less than impressed. A W is a W though, and if we get hot for the playoffs, anything can happen.

Hold up, Denver is down 21-10, if the Titans hold on aren't we the #1 seed? lol Quite the turnaround after how we were feeling when it was 19-3 Browns

All I will say is the Pats do hold the first tiebreaker over the Donkeys.

I haven't read through the entire thread, so apologies if this has already been mentioned:

The craziest thing about this game was that New England needed 2 TDs with 2 minutes and 39 seconds left (with 1 TO and needing an onside kick) and they actually left too much time on the clock at the end for Cleveland.

Unbelievable win!

You need to be reminded of the 2003 and 2004 seasons and all the injuries the Pats had then.

I appreciate your optimism however we have seen this team without Gronkowski and offensively we are a different team all together.

6 games without Gronkowski – 20.83 PPG
6 games with Gronkowski – 33.5 PPG

We really need Dobson and Thompkins on the field, and we need Amendola to step up, catching 4 balls on 8 targets for 36 yards is not going to suffice without Gronkowski on the field, we cannot rely on Shane Vereen for 12 receptions and 153 receiving yards on a weekly basis.

3 minutes left of the game, I left the house to get my wife sushi since she is working overnight. I thought the Patriots have lost. Driving on my way back from the Japanese restaurant, I started getting all of these text about the Patriots winning. I recorded the game so I am watching the last 3 minutes now.

Next Man Up, we will keep this magic going regardless of the hand dealt to us !

Re: Patriots versus Brown postgame thread

One of these years, we're going to get Vereen and Gronk healthy at the same time. When that happens, look out world.

Hmm.. Let's see. Mike Garafalo works for FOX. FOX wasn't broadcasting this game, so he wasn't in New England. Yet, he's going to scoop people like Mike Reiss, Chris Price or Jeff Howe? Reporters who have a much better standing and understanding of the Patriots.

The least you could do is use your brain before posting some sarcastic BS and making yourself look like a complete idiot.

...Or maybe he just called up Rosenhaus or someone connected to him, which has very little to do with time, distance, or the inner working of the Patriots. You know, that's what journalists can do in this day and age. Technology :O

I just don't get what your angle was, other than it's stupid. It's obvious Gronk had a devastating injury, and considering tweet after tweet is reporting now that it's the ACL, what's your point buddy?

Run those numbers again but substitute Vereen for Gronk. It would be interesting to see how they come out. As for not relying on Vereen, why not. Our offense is based upon finding mismatches and that's what Vereen represents. We're probably going to be running a lot of four WR sets that will take up a lot of secondary attention which will free up Vereen. In some ways, Vereen benefits from no Gronk because the field becomes more stretched and Vereen makes hay in space.

Boyce has some SERIOUS quickness.

This won't be popular but Chandler Jones has to do better against the run. I've thought he's been at least partially responsible for a number of big runs this season. I'm thinking about the Gordon reverse in the context of this game. I don't know what the responsibilities were but he went haring after the initial ball carrier and therefore was in no position to contain his side of the line.

Re: Re: The OFFICIAL Patriots vs. Browns Post Game Thread

So are most players this late in the year.

Talib is only as good as how much holding he's allowed to get away with. I don't expect a lot of people here to agree with me, but he is not worth a big contract.

Great when healthy, but healthy half of the time isn't worth big money. Spend that money on a pass rusher.

After SB 46, I picked out the 2014 season as our next shot at a championship. I'm standing by that, even though this team has heart. This defense went from good to awful faster than the cromartie family tree grows. I just don't think they can continue to pull rabbits out of a hat, and this team refuses to make things easier on themselves. Gronk's absence wouldn't even bother me if they could consistently execute.

This. I'm surprised teams didn't try to exploit him in the running game earlier than they did.

Each comeback win gets more absurd than the last. Patriots have to start playing well for four quarter as they are not going to be this lucky every week.

This team may not have the players to win the SB but they are a tough team that plays until the end. Glad they won but suck that Gronk likely tore every ligament in his knee.

he is playing hurt

He was also competing against a player that averaged 250 yds the past two games. The best thing about Talib is that he doesn't quit when he gets beaten.

I think part of it is that the DEs have been pinching inside against the run so much. That interior line needs all the help it can get, while the outside run hasn't hurt them nearly as much. Obviously there are exceptions, like that play.

At some point you are going to understand that TARGETS doesn't mean jack. They don't mean jack because on plays where the ball is thrown away, they still assign a "target". What matters is receptions and what they do. And since you missed it, one of those receptions was a TD.

Vereen: 40 receptions 378 yards in 5 games
