Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and pick

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

How does a historical mediocrity like Pete Carroll get to this position? In a word....

Talent

That team is loaded

I don't remember what was said about how many players are still left when he got there but I believe it's less than 10, maybe less than 5. He didn't exactly fall on the talent like Jim Harbaugh did.

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

The thought of P Carroll winning a SB jumping up and down the sideline, fist pumping and chomping gum like a horse with that s#@t eating grin, YEEESH! Someone please knock them off early, PLEASE!!!

EDIT: The only way I could put up with that is if he were facing fivehead in the SB. Manning face trumps!

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

the way that team plays at home and they now have the #1 seed with no giants or packers in the playoffs they are pretty much a lock to make it to the SB

I think a Panther/Seahawks match up will be very close, even in Seattle. Beyond that, the 49ers have a shot as well. Detroit has a team you would think matches up with Seattle, but that team is too dumb to win a big game.

Early reports

"Well, my wife got punched in the face going to pee.

Seething hate for Seahawks fans is not an accurate feeling for what I have right now."

no suprise

Still amazes me that the 2011 Pats that went to the SB had 6 guys remaining from 2007. Complete makeover in 4 years and back to the SB.

Seattle is going to be so hard to beat at home in the playoffs, thank god we don't have to go there.

Ravens

.....

The Ravens making the Super Bowl and Flacco throwing up his DPI specials to beat the Seahawks in a crazy outdoor game would make me hate the NFL for a very long time.

You maybe right but nobody is a lock really. It takes one game to get exposed for the league. Seattle is very good but they can be beat just like any other team. Thats why teams like Baltimore /49ers/Carolina can go in and win there because they are not scared of anyone.

We need to deal with this and beat this team, or we are going to fail, but short of CAR, and thier offence is not great. I think we're the only team that can beat them, and we lost badly 1st round.

SF can beat them even though they have lost twice to Seattle. They can frankly beat you guys also at home too. That team is a bad matchup for anyone in the playoffs especially with their passing game coming together slowly.

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

Seattle looks good, no doubt, but I see choke written all over them. I honestly think Carolina goes to Seattle and beats them. That's my opinion. They are also a different team on the road , and the Super Bowl will be in NJ. So unless Paul Allen spends some cash and decides to bring the "12th man" over. I'm not worried. And that "12th man" thing is really cute, but way overrated. That stadium is built for noise. Watch an MLS game there. Seattle Sounders are just as loud.

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

The only team with choke written all over them is Denver. There is no basis for Seattle "choking". That's not to say that someone cannot beat them, however unlikely at home.

Their second and third best corners are suspended for the year (atleast Browner is) sounds like Harvin might be done for the season, they have a huge advantage at home, no question, but after seeing Carolina, they scare me more. I can see Carolina going into Seattle and getting a win.

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

All that said. ... I'm glad we don't have to go thru Seattle

Don't give Goodell any ideas, lol...

Re: Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks - preview and predi

I still think a balanced attack can beat these guys. They're fast but not real big in the front 7. We would need Ridley to be a beast.

The only basis I'd see for a Seattle choke is the fact that regular season favorites tend to get ousted before the SB. Or maybe Browner's suspension could really be a hit to their D. Other than that don't see it, they are a very balanced team and have the best HFA in the league. They most likely don't have to worry about playing on the road so their road struggles need not apply. And the reason I picked against them last season, an unproven QB, is not only proving he's not a one year wonder but has improved immensely. They may have been a bit overrated last year going into the playoffs but I believe this year they are for real with Wilson playing as he is.

I do agree Carolina will give them a real fight in the NFCC if they make it there.

They looked good all right, but if we get to face them it will be on neutral ground, which is good. Neither Seattle, or their opponent last night, NO, is the same team away from home. Hopefully Carolina knocks them out in the playoffs, as I feel if we got to face Carolina again we'd beat them, having learned from our mistakes (and hopefully having a different officiating crew). Seattle scares me.

Carroll is a more palatable winning SB coach than some of the others, like the Harbaughs, Payton, or Jim Schwartz. Carroll was a Patriots head coach and had a winning record (27-21) with no losing seasons in New England. He was in over his head the first time around. Carroll's learned a lot and puts a nice team and game plan together.

Belichick against his predecessor in the big one is a great story line and would be a fitting end to this season.

Beside Belichick, the guys who wouldn't be awful if they won it all are Ron Rivera, Chuck Pagano, Andy Reid, and even John Fox. All are class guys. Pagano, Reid, and Fox have been through a lot.

It's too bad Fox coaches Forehead, Champ Bailey and Welker. I think he is one of the great head coaches of his era for what he's done with very different teams and QBs.

On a neutral ground like NJ, both Brady and Manning have enough offensive weapons to shred this Seattle defense. Their corners get away with a continuous use of hands beyond 5 yards, holding, etc while at home. Referees will call them as they are not chicken when Seattle is not at home. Russell Wilson will be a liability in the initial stages of the game, though he does have a strong will and clutch abilities towards the latter part of the game.
