If tonight’s game turns into a shootout will we have the weapons to win? The way I see it this is our top 5 weapons in priority order vs. their top 5 weapons in priority order.

Brady vs. Manning = Brady (weather will help)

1. Gronkowski vs. D. Thomas = Gronkowski
2. Amendola vs. Welker = Welker
3. Dobson vs. Decker = Decker
4. Vereen vs. J. Thomas = Vereen
5. Ridley vs. Moreno = Ridley

where does Gronk v DT and Vereen v. Julius comes from?

I'm looking at it in terms of options Gronkowski is out #1 option and D. Thomas is theirs. It's not a WR to WR matchup it's a significance of role matchup.

Broncos have the edge because of our D.

Your whole matching is useless. You need to compare offensive players vs. defensive players... hence:

<insert your Broncos WR/TE/RB name here> vs. <insert your Pat DB here> =

Broncos burn us.

Why? Their defense stinks

Broncos have the edge because of our D.

The Pats have been giving up 5.6 LESS points per games than Denver and 23.5 LESS total yards and 49.9 LESS passing yards. The Pats' opposing QBs' passer rating is 78.0% while the Broncos' opposing QBs' passer rating is 83.0%. The Pats let opposing QBs complete 56.0% of their passes while the Broncos allow opposing QBs to complete 58.3% of their passes. The Pats have 32 sack while the Broncos have 29. The Pats defense has allowed 16 passing TDs and the Broncos defense has allowed 18 passing TDs. The Pats have allowed 6.7 yards per passing attempt while Denver has allowed 7.5 yards per passing attempt.

Clearly, all the numbers say the Pats' defense is better than the Broncos defense. The only passing stat where the Broncos defense have an edge over the Pats' defense is INTs where they have one more at 13 to 12. And that is because of a flukey fourth quarter vs. the Redskins where the combination of RGIII and Kurt Cousins threw four picks.

Really strange analysis. If you are comparing skill positions you compare TE to TE, etc........options change depending upon situations and match ups. As far as the game goes it is about offenses against defenses, and while the Patriots defense is clearly depleted I like them tonight if conditions stay as they are. I think the Patriots are going to be able to run the ball and Manning will have a tough time with the cold and wind.

If this was tennis it would it'd be game-set-match time.

Though i voted Broncos in the predict the score contest hoping I'd lose. There may be too much stock put into what they did to the Chiefs. then again, maybe they are that good.

I think this is a game where I don't want to see McD run "cute" plays. I think we can play our offense against their defense straight up and present nightmares. If Manning is going to be on quick passes, I expect BB and Patricia to have something worked out.

Manning may be one of the best all time at diagnosing Ds, but we have our own FBHoF QB as well and we know Manning as well as he knows us (and Welker can certainly ruin explain our offensive system -- that's a scary thought).

I was comparing Brady and his top 5 offensive weapons in order vs. Manning and his top 5 offensive weapons in order. It's not about skill set it's about if this becomes a shoot out do we have the weapons. If you look at our 5 best vs. their 5 best I think we could.

I understand what you were doing i just don't see the relevance of it. I think targets and focus changes week to week and situation to situation, and while I could see the TE v TE, RB v RB comparisons the TE v RB doesn't really make any sense to me. Decker could end up being Manning's primary target and Amendola Brady's.

I was looking at it more as do we have the talent to hang with the Broncos if this becomes a shootout, overall I would consider the players listed to equal each other in terms of importance, big play potential, etc. Maybe I looked at it in the wrong way, I just saw a lot of posts and articles about the Broncos having superior offensive talent which if you look at our best 5 vs. their best 5 actually is not true.
