Yeah I'm not even clicking on this.

What's the deal?

Well Ross Tucker is a former teammate and usually rational. Dont agree with him entirely but doesnt make him an idiot. If you dont like it , just ignore it, the title is clear enough for that.

I am a little concerned about it, too, but I am going to reserve judgment until the end of the season. I want to see how things play out. Even Bruschi admits he has been off:

Jay (Concord )

Hello Tedy, I know Brady has taken some heat around hear about declining skills, etc., but how many quarterbacks out there today could take a team to 6-2 with a complete overhaul on offense? Brady keeps us in every game, and while it may not look pretty, I wouldn't want anyone else back there.

Jay, I have an incredible amount of faith in Tom Brady also. But as the course of this year has gone on, he's take some hits. At tihs point of the year, everyone has their own bumps and bruises. But there are some throws that Brady has made that I am shaking my head at. Throws that are on the wrong side of the WR. Throws that aren't as accurate as we're used to seeing. Some of the throws, I don't blame the WR at all. I look at the game, as you do, and say to myself 'That was a bad throw.' Is the hand an issue? That's something to monitor as the season progresses.

Absolutely nothing is confirmed about Brady deteriorating due to age.

That said, the odds are high that he heals more slowly from injury than he used to. That would suggest, on the average, he would be more injured -- and perhaps also more nervous about getting hit.

Also, like any other athlete's, Brady's skills erode when not successfully practiced. E.g., later-career Brady hasn't been as accurate on swing passes as early-career Brady, who threw a LOT of them as a staple of the offense.

As for the article itself, it notes the dismal stats and throws, also notes the missing teammates, and says nothing insightful about how to offset those considerations. Just to remind us:

  • Gronk was out, and still isn't fully back to speed.
  • AHern is gone.
  • Welker is gone, and his replacement is usually hurt.
  • Woodhead is gone, and his replacement has been hurt.
  • None of Lloyd's replacements have yet matched him for consistency.
Calling that a "huge" drop-off in available receiving talent is if anything an understatement. Brady arguably had the best set of receivers in the league last season (not WRs, but receivers total); most games this season, he's had arguably the worst.

interesting article that illustrates how overrated the chiefs are and discusses brady's decline in production and what the reasons for that decline might be.

It's hard to determine how to divy up the blame pie for Tom Brady's massive decline this year. Is his lack of accuracy related to the fact that he doesn't trust his new receivers? Is it related to age? An injury to his hand? How much do we blame the new receivers and how much do we blame Brady himself? What we do know is that Brady's year-to-year decline is one of the biggest for any quarterback in history.

You could go back in the news archives and dredge this same type of opinion piece up about Elway when he was 37....the Broncos won two Super Bowls with him at QB going forward. Brady has a career's worth of experience and winning under his belt. Is he "slowing down"? physically?....probably...it DOES happen to everybody. If the Pats can continue their defensive improvement and provide a balanced offensive attack, there's no reason why anyone wouldn't want Tom Brady running the offense. These pieces are mainly about the reporter's need to "be the first to say it!!!!", a tactic that has become THE mainstay of sports journalism.

why has brady had a big drop off from last year ?

#1 he's best WR from last year is now in Denver leading the NFL in TD's and 2th in rec,

#2 he's 2th best WR from last year is home working on he's rap album,

#3 he's top five TE is going to get life in prison for murder,

#4 he's 3rd down back is in san deigo were he leads all RB's in rec,

#5 he's new slot WR has only played in 2 games

#6 he's number one outside WR is a undrafted rookie

#7 the best TE in the NFL has only been back for two games and is now getting triple covered,

#8 he's almost 1300 yard 12 td RB from last year is only averaging 12 att per game

Nailed It! Well Typed/Said!

Sorry I don't buy theory Brady suddenly sucked over nite. Just look what this GOAT QB has at his arsenal since Game One. Brady had/has NO control over Welker's departure, rookie WRs and AHern & injuries trade moves et, he just goes out with hand he's dealt with AND YES he hasn't been Tom Terrific but we're 6-2 with a realistic chance of goin into Bye-Week 7-2 with Gronk, Amendola and Hopefully sooner than later Vareen back as well. Durin Jet Game they would flash to sidelines and Brady was shown a couple of times squeezin his throwin hand and last week shown how swollen it was VS Phins. NOT BAD for 24 unanswered win. Brady & Def got it done.

Remember this from the first Jets game, on Thursday night?

Was it ever determined what he was spraying on his hand?

Not a bad story, and as someone who looks to statistics to see how players or teams are performing, Brady is not having a good year.

I'm not certain age is a major factor, though. It's a reality, but the variables going back to Welker's departure, Hernandez' arrest, Woodhead's departure, Gronk's surgeries, and in-season injuries, all point to a very complicated situation in which to have a good statistical year.

This is where "it is what is" is a useful existential position to take. The Patriots are 6-2, going in to a winnable home game in the conference. If they emerge 7-2, they're in control of the division and their destiny as far as the playoffs are concerned.

Glad to see Ross is still riding his total washout as a Patriot on the field into being a Patriots "expert."

Its likely something that numbs it or makes it feel cool.

Something isnt right with Bradys throwing hand.

What's the deal?

Whats wrong with posting a different opinion/perspective regarding the Pats problems?

Quite frankly, I like that some folks are claiming that Brady is declining because I think that will fire him up to prove them wrong.

I know I'm being picky, but clearly you mean "his" and not "he's."
A bit confusing at first.

Ol' Ross never misses a chance to tweak his former team. He does it cleverly, without venom, in a matter-of-fact, "I wish I didn't have to say/write this" manner. But whether in print or verbally, he does it.

Not to get off topic, but KC is vastly over rated.

Not 1 team theyve faced has a winning record. The best is Dallas @ 4 - 4. Back up QBs and struggling starters have padded the KC defenses stat sheet. The only decent 2013 QB thus far has been Romo and he had cracked ribs vs KC that game.

KC is going to lose in the coming weeks and then fold in the post season.

Bruschi said that the Pats are not a playoff team.

Rodney has been critical of the team too
