Panthers defensive tackle Andre Neblett, who last week was suspended four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy, said Tuesday the positive test was for an over-the-counter supplement.

He did not identify the supplement, but said it was to try to control his weight. The 6-foot, 310-pounder was listed at 295 last year.

Durable, hard-worker who is among the most experienced nose guards in the draft. Occupies alot of space and able to keep linemen off his linebackers. A solid run-stopper with decent strength and ability to get upfield (5.5 TFLs in 2009) and get tackles in the backfield.

No sacks in 2009 suggesting his mobility and speed are not at the elite level needed in the NFL. Sometimes does not use leverage properly and keep shoulders low.

He already served the 4 games suspension, last year. The report on the failed drug test is from July 2012

So he's good to go.

Had me thinking "why have they signed a guy with a suspension" at first

On another note though - did Temple have a beastly DL in 2009 with Neblett & Mo Wilkerson? Wilkerson, as we know is very good so the other side to the question would be - how much of his 5.5 TFL that year come from the level of competition and having a young Wilkerson on the line with him too?

Any new body at DT is welcome though so here's hoping he shows some of his ability while he's a Patriot.

Strange that they would sign him for this week. If NO wants to try to run it down our throats, I would welcome that. The more they take it out of Brees' hands, the better.

I haven't heard of him prior to this but I did check out whatever I could get my hands on, and he seems like a lard ass we need in the middle. Hopefully Kelly is ready to go this Sunday too.

He's not a game changer by any means, but he can push a pile against the run. He would work well in a rotation and certainly looks better than what I've seen from Vellano against the run.
