Donte Whitner of San Francisco 49ers changing his name to Hitner after fine - ESPN

And I thought Chad Johnson was the only NFL moron to mess with his name.....

It would be more appropriate if he removed the 'W' and replaced it with an 'S'

It's as if he realizes that he can't cover and wants to change his name to reflect his one skill.

Yep...he is a Brandon Meriweather clone

Obligatory 'Heil Hitner'. I really don't think he thought this one through.

He ought to add "Nit" at the beginning and drop "ner."

That should put a nice sized bullseye on his back when it comes to the NFL office and the ol' Commish.

I'm legally changing my name to Bradylicious

I legally removed brain cells from my head reading about Whitner legally removing the W from his name.

Probably no coincidence that Whitner shows up on the 49ers and the lone Jew on the team (Taylor Mays) took off for Cincinnati...

Hmmmm....

Perhaps instead of concentrating on changing his name, Donte better start worrying about Andre Johnson,DeAndre Hopkins and company coming to town or his team may be changing their name soon.......from division champs to runner up.

I gotta tell ya when I see "Hitner" written out, that really is the first thing that comes to mind. I don't mean that specific phrase, but that name.

In 2006 he was arrested for harassing his girlfriend. He didn't smack her. Good thing or else he would never live down the 'hittin her' pronunciation.

Chris

When the 49ers lose on a last second bomb over Hitner's head, can't wait for the "Hitner loses 'W' in name, game" headlines.

Chris

Honestly; who cares. Let players put whatever they want on their jerseys as long as they declare it by the start of the season.
Normal players will put their names; the strange ones will put whatever they want.
Pro sports is about entertainment (even though fans take it seriously). Having nicknames on jerseys just furthers tha

hey ..what can happen?...he turns out to be a bust with that new name he can always add an S to the beginning of it..

I'm glad we're spending time being annoyed by things that matter.
