ESPN: Falcons Beat Themselves

I'm surprised some of the 'veteran' members of this board are still peeved by these things...

You guys understand that the most of the 'experts' on ESPN and NFLN are idiots. You guys understand that they say outlandish things for ratings and mouse clicks. Yet you guys still get up all in arms over this...

It's nothing. Stop letting it get to you...

It doesn't "get to me", Andy...you can search Google and hundreds of thousands of Patsfans dot com posts come up...they SEE these rip jobs...I KNOW they do and I KNOW how much they wish they could put a stop to it but they can't...it's out there whether they like it or not...and others involved in the media see it too...others not beholden to the NFL juggernaut....some day and I hope it's soon, one of these other media carnivores is going to take on the league and the networks and push for some transparency.

"For the good of the league","equipment malfunction", "official's call", "we are working hard on the concussion issue"," "we care about our fans","the fans want us to play 18 games" One CANNOT look at the CHFF frame by frame breakdown of the Eli "miracle" play in 2007 and claim that entire farce wasn't mandated.....In the grasp AND blatant holding....here...LOOK and then defend the "no call"...it's farcical.

The REAL MVP of Super Bowl 42 - YouTube

The head ref of last year's Super Bowl was elevated from "not eligible" as one of the worst head refs in the league, to referee of the Ravens/SF Super bowl on orders from Goodell. ONE defensive penalty called in that game...a game during which even a casual fan could SEE twenty ,thirty or even forty obvious calls. Harbaugh Bowl...trademarked BY the NFL in February 2011.

We're watching a game with hidden strings...so are people outside this monolithic juggernaut.Right now it's a tremendous distraction to real world problems we all face in our lives. I get infuriated during the week watching network news and seeing these morons grind our economy and our lives to a halt using these idiotic props like "fiscal cliff!!" and "the sequester!!!"...but I turn to televised sport on the weekends and forget about the world for a bit...I get immersed in and am passionate about...what?...a kid's game!...it's something I always believed was untouched by the scumbags and outright liars that haunt our daily lives posing as our "representatives".

Now I'm beginning to think it's all a big joke...and the joke is on us.

Goddamn man... I'm trying to have a good night over here with BrBa and the Pats win and you gotta bring up '07 and the federal government in one post?!

You bastard!!!

I apologize....I'm sure you know what a rabid badger I am about all these "coincidences". I've lived too long to ignore my gut feeling and I look at and listen to this Goodell and smell a gigantic rat. Can't help it....so just pat me on my little pinhead and tell me it's all gonna be alright....:suspicious:

The Wilfork news takes the cake.

************..

Let me PC this, I dislike Trent Dilfer...

A more appropriate headline would have been "Officials nearly hand the Falcons the Game". They were horrendous, especially down the stretch.

We may as well get used to this. Nobody in the AFC deserves their wins besides the Broncos apparently.

I also heard TWICE today just before kick-off on TV "The Patriots are 3-0 HOWEVER that's likely due to their soft schedule"..Twice, something along those lines.

Which made me mad cause if you're going to say that, the same thing has to go for the Broncos (soft schedule) yet they're getting WAY too much credit!

Broncos opponents total wins: 4

Patriots opponents total wins: 5

Everyone is forgetting the Buffalo game was very nearly a rout--a complete domination at least, with a couple freak plays that kept the Bills in it. The Jets game was very nearly 20-3 at the half. And tonight, the Patriots dominated save for a few soft moments late in the game.

People can harp about weak opponents and close wins all they want, if Brady and the rookies were on the same page we'd have 4 wins and 4 ass-kickings under our belt.

Not sure who it was or what "department" it was at ESPN but someone there said the Patriots would win only 1 road game in 2013. Only 4 Weeks in they already have egg on their face. So what do some do when proven wrong? Try extra hard to show they actually should be right.
Is that it or is it simply blowhard-ism? Probably blowhard-ism. Doesn't matter because this is ESPN. Sometimes there is a game on I want to watch and it's only showing on ESPN. So I watch ESPN. End reason for using or caring about ESPN.

Considering 11 of 13 ESPN NFL "Experts" picked the Falcons over the Patriots, they pretty much had to claim the Falcons beat themselves. The alternative was to admit they were wrong. Much better for them to blame the Falcons.

Finally someone gets it. I've been on this theory since 2007. Last year's SB and AFC playoff games against the old worn out Ravens in particular only further proves this theory. So does Hernandez's arrest. There's no way he'll prove his innocence with his civil liberties and rights being constantly violated by the media and the MA legal system. What happened to the 14th amendment? Back to football... it's become the Hunger Games, except its a different sport.

...and the Patriots didnt nearly give away the game with their mistakes? Wars are won by the least incompetent army, deal with it.

Trent Dilfer and Tom Jackson have been morons and obvious haters since I've been watching. Its their job to convince people that Peyton is the best, until he gets beat down by the Patriots, then they'll act like they knew all along that Brady is the GOAT.
It's obvious the Patriots were finding ways to let the game slip last night, from the botched onside kick to the botched snap, those overrated birds just didn't capitalize because Talib was all over it. If the Falcons were to pull off a win last night, I wonder if Trent would discuss how the Patriots have been beating themselves for thepast 4 weeks despite the victories?

Trent Dilfer: "The Patriots know the AFC runs through Denver"

Sorry, what?

Trent Dilfer: "The Patriots know the AFC runs through Denver"

Sorry, what?
The only problem with that statement is Denver probably won't (publicly) believe it. You have to admit, they are killing opponents and winning style points.

Just remember its a long season

Pherein...you are an unbiased outsider...ever seen or heard that one before?? replay NOT working...sorry...can't review possible game ending play....wait!!!..Falcons get the onside kick...replay working now!!"..

ever see that one Pherein??? I haven't...and I'm an NFL addict

Can only imagine the endless uproar and innuendo if this had happened to an opposing team in Foxboro. We'd never hear the end of it.

Actualy Faulk picked the pats today . rich eisen remarked then "the whole of new england fan base just fell of their chair" LOL

That exchange happened re: the Falcons game? I could swear the exact exchange happened before SB46.
