Hoyer getting his shot

It would be so like the Browns to draft a guaranteed bust like Johnny "Leaf-Tebow Hybrid" Manziel.

Manziel has all the physical tools necessary except for size (which doesn't seem to bother Drew Brees or Russell Wilson too much). It's his psyche, his drinking/partying, and his general douche attitude that would be the problem. I don't think even the Browns would be dumb enough to draft him in the first. The Jets, maybe. But not the Browns.

The Pats should really be looking at A.J. McCarron next year, IMO.

Good luck Brian! (but not too much - please don't come back to haunt your old team )

I hope Hoyer does well. I feel he will do alright.

This is just because Weeden injured, correct?
Not really his shot at the job, but his shot as a backup to start a game.

Drew Bledsoe thinks you might be wrong about that....

I hope Hoyer goes on a tear and lays waste to the Steelers, Bengals and the Ravens and rides into Foxboro as a conquering hero in the playoffs. I imagine Bill Belichick has an idea or two about how to throw him off his game.

Good luck, Brian.

OK Brian Hoyer is the next Tom Brady

That's what we like about you, AJ. You're open-minded, flexible, quick to see the other guy's point of view and you know how to make it your own with grace and style. You are the man!

Hoyer's skillset and arm talent don't mesh well with the Browns' vertical-style offense.

Still, I wish him all the best this week. If he shows enough while Weeden is out, he might Wally Pipp him. Weeden blows.

I'll be cheering for him to succeed. Mike Lombardi must be happy.

I'm a big fan of McCarron but I think he'll go pretty early.

hah -- someone writing about this news posted this (updated) blast from the past:

Maybe we can trade a 1st rounder to the Browns for Hoyer.

Hoyer is the 19th QB to start for Cleveland in the last 15 years.

Puts it in perspective that the Patriots have only had three.

But this is a genuine shot. The reason the jumped over the #2 (Jason Campbell) is because (I believe) they want to get a look at Hoyer. I think Weedon is not a sure thing in Cleveland. There's been a regime change since he was drafted.

Hoyer's probably doing a facepalm right now over the trade of Trent Richardson.

Wait, aren't theyplaying the Vikings? Cassel and Hoyer!

Woohoo. Now I can root for the browns to beat up the afcn opponents. I really like Hoyer. Very humble kid. I hope he wins the fans over.

I agree, although I fear they're throwing him to the wolves.

Good for him he always tried his hardest he deserves it.

this is the best chance hes going to get in the NFL. if he plays good the browns can use the top 2 picks on other players. then pick a development qb later.

Weeden is almost certainly gone.
