He definitely doesn't seem to be making good decisions lately, but I'm also not too convinced that he's taken a huge fall either.

He'll be back on the field sacking QBs in about a month, and that will make all of this completely irrelevant. If we each had a dollar for every time an NFL player got caught driving without a valid license, we'd all be rich.

In terms of the rotoworld article--don't believe the "hype."

Miller was cited, which means he was given a ticket, and since he had a legal driver in the car with him, they allowed his dad to drive off. He wasn't arrested, and he surely wasn't "released into the custody of his father." Those aren't facts at all. Those are comments that make the issue to appear to be much more serious than it actually was.

In terms of NFL players who have made poor decisions in the past, we currently have a ton. Aldon Smith, Dez Bryant, Tyrann Matheiu, etc....as long as they don't get suspended (and Miller certainly won't from this), it's really all irrelevant.

Traffic violations are not part of the CBA personal conduct policy, right?

No way Miller gets suspended for getting cited and driving away (or having his dad driving away).

No one has ever been suspended before for driving on a suspended license, IIRC.

I don't know about Colorado, but in Florida, this would be a felony. These charges (for the second time in a short amount of time) would almost always result in jail time. The officer has the option to issue a citation rather than take the guy into the station in such a situation.

He is going to need a miracle to avoid jail. There are very few successful defenses. Either you are licensed to drive or you are not.

He's bringing more and more embarrassment to the Broncos organization. All of this is probably avoidable if he'd just use his common sense.

The only serious offense would be driving under a DUI suspension. Otherwise in the majority of states, you're given a citation and if a licensed driver is with you, they are allowed to drive away just like they did for him when his father was in the car. Of course it's additional time on your suspension.

I see no way that he needs a miracle to avoid "jail time," but we'll have to wait and see what happens. We are talking about a state where pot is totally legal, and as a whole driving under suspension is not looked at as a very serious offense around the country. Aside from getting additional time on his suspension for his license, the worst he'll get is probation or a small suspended sentence that he'll never see. If they are going to throw everyone who drives under suspension in jail, then our jails would be even more crowded. Offenses of this small nature are not generally given jail time.

I am aware that FL is a harsh state regarding this offense however, so you'd be correct in stating that.

Since he has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons, maybe Goodell does tack on an additional game to his suspension, but I don't think that traffic violations are part of the personal conduct policy under the CBA--even if he were given a week in jail or something. I suppose anything is possible, so you could be right. We'll have to wait and see.

I guess no harm no foul. But sometimes I can't help feel that the law enforcement sucks.

A few years ago, my wife and I got hit by a car trying to make an ILLEGAL U-turn. The driver had a suspended license, was driving a race rented by someone else and had no insurance. Police took his information and he drove off with the renter of the car. We on the other hand had to wait for a tow and had to pay our insurance deductible. Only in Philadelphia.

I don't think there is any hard rules of what is included and not included in the personal conduct policy. And driving with a suspended license is not an actual traffic violation.

Typically, this wouldn't trigger Goodell's actions, but there are a couple of things that might trigger it:

• Miller got in trouble with the law while on suspension. Miller made a public apology about letting his fans down and he proved his attrition by getting in trouble with the law one week into the suspension. Goodell may decide he is not learning from his mistakes.
• The league wanted to suspend Miller for a year for what he pulled trying to cheat the test. Because they feared legal actions could do damage to the policy as a whole, they negotiated it down to six games. This incident will allow Goodell to get the full year suspension or closer to it without putting the league's drug policy in perils in the courts. Miller won't have as much of a legal case on violating the personal conduct policy.

I am not expecting Goodell to extend Miller's suspension, but I certainly wouldn't be shocked if he did.

Sorry to see this, I hope he gets his act together, he is potentially a great player and thus could be very fun to watch, even though he plays for one of our current rivals.

I wonder what Wrong Borges and the other dude from Rolling Stone are going to suggest that Broncos management do about this ... I'm guessing I'll be waiting to hear that from them for "quite a while"

Of course, some in current Broncos management have their own issues ...

But that John Elway and is just as amazingly wonderful as always, so don't be unfair and try to apply the same standards to them as are applied to the Patriots, after all the Broncos never cheated the league on anything other than the salary cap :bricks:

I wouldn't be surprised if he does extend Miller's suspension. Not expecting it. As I said, getting in trouble while on suspension and it being a suspension the league wanted to be much longer than it is means there is at least a decent shot Goodell tacks on at least a few more games. I wouldn't bet on it, but I don't know if I would bet against it either.

Dennard will likely face some sort of suspension, but I am thinking it is more likely to happen in the 2014 season. I still think Dennard gets his DUI trial and probation hearing beyond the season. Goodell won't levy a punishment until those are settled.

If he sees jail time there is probably a way to suspend him but can he really be considered a repeat offener if his first offense was prior to his employment?

This is in the link/article that you provided:

"ESPN Senior NFL Insider Chris Mortensen reported later Wednesday that the NFL will not increase Miller's suspension."

I'm sure anything is always a possibility with Goodell, so I think you have a valid point on that. I just personally don't see more time added on over a suspended license charge--at least when you look at it objectively anyway.

In the end though, you could be right. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out. It'd be great to see him have to stay home when we play him, as unlikely as that obviously is

These statements are spot on in my opinion. We really don't expect it, but anything's always possible. Only time will tell.

In the end if additional time were thrown on, I don't think it'd be more than a game...maybe two at the very most.

We'll have to see whether or not Chris Mortenson's reports that they aren't adding anything are true or not. In the meantime we've got our own problems to deal with
