A September Surprise?

Gronk plays against Buffalo? Not sure but everything we've seen this week says 'Yes' he will.

Name me one fact that runs contrary to that.

doubt it. don't think they'll risk him for teams like the Bills and Jets...

I don't see him coming back before week 3

Those aren't facts.

If he's ready, I could see them bringing him back for the Jets. They could limit his snaps to ease him in, AND he'd have an extra three days before the next game. Buffalo is pushing it though, and if they're on the fence I doubt they play him because of the quick turnaround to Thursday's game.

The fact BB is trying to get Buffalo to think what you're thinking.

I think there is a fair chance he'll see a limited role for the Jest, and perhaps even against Buffalo. Mostly just to work him back into game shape. Don't think he'll play any significant role until week three. I think they'll be cautious bringing him back (a good thing). It will be nice to see him back, even in a limited way.

The fact is I haven't seen any tweets of him with porn stars so he obviously still isn't himself.

Division games are exactly what we want him for, to ensure a victory. The random lowly NFC team is exactly what you don't prepare him for.

I agree, but this is the AFCE, not the NFCW.... I think we should be able to single-handedly take care of business of either one of these turd teams without Gronk out there.

He had back surgery and hasn't been able to do any of his usual training in preparation for football. Reports are he is slimmed down and less physically imposing than was while playing. He is certainly not in prime football shape yet. That is not to say that he is incapable of doing anything, but he is not 100% Gronk.

Meida Fact is the Patriots will be playing without their top 5 receivers from last year. Mathematically that means he is out for the year right?

Seriously though based on how it seemed he was ramping up even on the PUP and looking at his workload this week I would not be shocked to see Gronk play this week. I still am expecting him to miss at least one game but based on what I have seen it seems like a realistic possibility he goes on sunday.

lastly I would ask anyone this If we just said player X had surgery (ignoring exactly what kind) 9 weeks ago and that he was expected to return in 10 would it be that crazy to see him back in 9? Basically everyone is ovethinking this because of who is, because of the 5 wrist surgeries, or his prior back surgery, or because of how the media spun it. We are either at 10 weeks or almost there and he appears to be very close to ready to play.

The Patriots should be able to win without Gronkowski this week, so they can afford to have him sit this one out. I feel the same way about the Jets game too.

A week 3 return seems more likely than week 1.

How long will him take to gain back the 11-15 pounds?

To cause consternation and useless coaching time spent with the Jesters, Bucs and even the Falconry, all he has to do is have Gronk appear for ONE, o-n-e, only 1, play against the Bills.

This makes no sense.

"Gronk was on the field for one snap! Now we have to be ready just in case he plays every snap against us!"

"I'm glad Gronk didn't play this week. That means we definitely don't have to worry about him at all!"

Update: See The Blitz with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

I'll give you two that you'll agree with:
1) Sudfeld does not suck
2) They do not need him to beat the Bills.

I'm not saying he won't get some reps in the 4th qtr of a blowout, but see numbers one and two.

I'll say that he won't get any reps even in a blowout. That would require them making him active.
