Practice Squad Taking Shape

Could have more to do with Sims, his agent might be advising him to wait 24-48 before settling on a practice squad offer.

I may be reading too much into things but the fact that Washington was released leads me to believe that Winn is likely to be announced as a practice squad signing in the next 24 hours.

I doubt teams give these guys that much time to think about it. More of the take it or leave it variety offer, IMO. Teams ready to move along. Lots of eager young players out there ready to jump at a dwindling number of chances.

The Jags have cut FB Lonnie Pryor. I want him bad.

He does have some junk in his trunk…

Sorry I had to bro, I am an immature child in nature still…

Maybe they just pretend their phones were dead or out of range.

Realistically I hear what you’re saying and tend to agree in theory, but I am sure they handle every player differently depending on the desire to have him sign.

Like many, I am hoping to see Winn and Sims added to the PS. If the Pats were interested, wouldn't they have told them to stick around and be at today's practice?

Unfortunately, I could see both thinking that there is too much young depth ahead of them in NE and they may stand a better chance to get promoted elsewhere.

Add Kanoris Davis per SMY Boston Globe

I don't know why Bill is bothering with Tarp & JaG Davis. Our LBs, which now include Chris White,
are young enough; no need to add 2 to the PS if they can't rush the passer.
I also agree with those who understand our need for a #3 QB.
And having Justin Green in the building is a waste of space; there are plenty of PS-eligible CBs
now on the street much better than that bum.

Sims might have more opportunity on a team that's old at WR.

And from the Patriots' standpoint, WR isn't a position where they're thin at practice.

Of course the Practice Squad is often a temporary home, esp right in the first couple weeks of the season.

Sims and winn pass through waivers

If we can add both Sims and Winn to the practice squad it will be the first time that I can remember in many years that we’ve had a RB and a WR that I was excited about us spending the time to develop.

Hopefully god isn’t to upset about the whole Tebow cutting and allows it to work out for us :amen:

A muscular butt = power. We're not looking for Calvin Klein models.

Sims and Winn both cleared waivers.

It Is What It Is » Patriots confirm release of Leon Washington, Marquice Cole, ink 5 to practice squad, set roster at 53

In addition, the Patriots re-signed LB Ja’Gared Davis, S Kanorris Davis, DB Justin Green, DL Marcus Forston and LB Jeff Tarpinian to the practice squad. All five of those players were released by the team Saturday.

Linebackers Ja'Gared Davis and Jeff Tarpinian on the practice squad plus linebacker Chris White on the 53 man roster?

Can you say overkill.

hoping the last 3 are Sims, Winn and QB Austin Davis.

.@FOX19Joe: Colerain H.S. product Quentin Sims just told me he's going back to New England. Will be on Patriots practice squad.

Nice!

What I liked about this kid was how he improved during camp. He was signed as camp fodder with Perez Ashford, and you could tell. He was the worst WR on the field. (Drops, awareness, etc.)

By the August practices, he looked like a different receiver. It's good to see that in a young player.

That's a testament to his hard work and work ethic. He's impressed more in the last few preseason games than Dobson has so far.

I'm glad the Patriots kept him around. He'll be able to shine this year if any injuries occur to WR corps. I'm happy for the kid.

By my count the Practice Squad now looks like this:

  • LB Ja’Gared Davis

  • S Kanorris Davis

  • CB Justin Green

  • DT Marcus Forston

  • LB Jeff Tarpinian

  • WR Quentin Sims

Two more to go (for now)

Hopefully Sims will be on his way back to New England to take his place on the PS.

I'd love to see Winn come back to the PS, but I'd also like to see them add a QB and an OL; the problem is there aren't enough spots. I can see them letting go of one of the LBs--probably Davis to at least clear one spot.

Hopefully next year's wide receiver depth chart will be:
Amendola
Dobson
Thompkins
Boyce
Sims
Harrison

Glad to see Sims on the PS. WR depth shouldn't be a problem this year.
