It was Dillon in 2005, now it's Seymour for 2006.

Pats fans say, "only slackers use non-functioning limbs as an excuse"!

Seymour possibly had one functioning arm and leg in 2006 and that should be enough for someone with that big a contract!

Agree, or no?

I believe that it was largely his injuries in additions to the injuries of others compared to some outstanding play of some defensive counterparts.

Injuries are just an excuse. With a big contract like that, he should have bit the QBs legs off!

Thanks for humoring me BTW.

you seem upset Ray Clay

MrBigglesWorth, this is my biggest pet peeve.

I love reading all the laudatory posts now about Corey Dillon and I'm tempted to bump some threads from the same people calling him a bum and malingerer who's slow and washed in 2005 when he was playing with an injury that's supposed to be in a cast for 8 weeks and numerous other injuries.

Of course we expect players to play injured, so do we praise their courage? No, we crucify them. And the media does too.

If you want to get me irritated on a football board, that's the way to do it. Guys that have already proved themselves then play hurt while others sit shouldn't have to listen to one word of crap from armchair experts IMO.

Other wise I'm a pretty mellow guy.

This past season.... he was either injured or real old. Do yout hink he was injured and if so what type of injury?

I hate to be simplistic, but if you've ever been hit by a car or fallen down the stairs and you tried to get out of bed the next day, that's how he's probably felt every fall Monday morning for 12 years. LOL.

Now in 2005, he had an injury that was supposed to be in a cast for 8 weeks. So he ran on one leg.

I saw Jim Brown play when I was a little kid. Every time he walked back to the huddle, he looked like he was going to die. Then he would rip one up the middle and drag 2 linebackers another 8 yards. Over and over.

He retired after nine seasons. His last season he had 1544 yds and 5.3 yd avg.

A power running back in the NFL probably start playing injured and in pain in Junior high School.

When people say "do you think he's banged up"? I really don't know what to say.

Now that NEM is gone there must be a new sheriff in town

so is he done in your opinion then?

Players lose speed, but not power when they get older.

As I was trying to Illustrate with the Jim Brown example, runners like that can still deliver in bruising fashion, they just don't want to take the punishment anymore. Earl campbell is a lot bigger and he can hardly walk now, reportedly

He might be able to play for more years because he knows how to run and has the power. Question is, do you want somebody hitting you over the head with a baseball bat for 4 more years.

He's released here because Maroney is the future. If he ever plays again I think it would be to get some yards for the HOF. That might be worth the pain of preparing and playing.

He's not a good running back, he's a great one. If he can run, he can get 1st downs and score. He'll never be fast like the 278 yard game days.

I've seen Campbell on tv and you are right he has a tough time walking because of his knees and the NFL pension is awful.

Has Dillon been officially released?

Back in 2005 you could tell he didn't want to take the punishment as he would always lunch forward turning his back to take the hit.

And this thread ..... I thought it was about Batman because of the Black Knight

It's Monty Python. I didn't answer your question. I think he retires, his style of running isn't conducive to picking up easy yards.

He could still be effective IMO. He was better than Maroney this year.

I just can't see him going through another camp. Too much punishment.

1,000 yards and Dillon vaults to #9 from 14. Another 70 and he passes jim Brown. That's the only thing I can see him returning for.

I think he wants to make sure the Pats aren't put in the position of sitting Maroney so he can pile up yards. this release is what you call a win win.

Thanks again Corey.

a bunch of fat slobs on the couch slamming guys for not have the same effectiveness while playing hurt. I swear. LOL

Add Maroney to the list of playing hurt, he hurt his ribs ... I think.

Just a flesh wound!

seymour is still good, he is just constantly double teamed, which makes ty warrens life much easier, w/o seymour injured or not, warren does not have the year he had.

They all play hurt. I'll guarantee slackers don't last to long on the patriots.

There's really only 2 kinds of players. Guys like Dillon, Brady, Seymour, Bird, Michael Jordan etc. play for pride and a love of the game. And competitiveness. They'd try to break your arm for a 5 cent bet on tiddleywinks.

The Patriots get rid of the other kind of player ASAP

Great user name.

That's true of all of them. Our 3 man line is going to be legendary if they stay together awhile. what we need are linebackers!
