Not that Tom Brady doesn't look nerdy enough at times but the Lambs are experimenting with G2 (1) to see what the QB sees to better understand the perspective and (2) as a possible future fan perspective. I've long bee a proponent of applying tech to football. No way would a laser goalpost tech have ruled that FG good at the Ravens game last year. Tech like RFID in the football for goal line rulings or possibly placed in offensive players uniforms & helmets could provide further info.

After upon reading your thread title my initial response was WTF is this BS........

But then I read your post & link and got to thinking. I started thinking about watching a PiP of the QB view and seeing the view tracking where his eyes are going at the same time watching the whole play. Would be pretty intense. (like PiP isnt distracting enough now with 2 simultaneous games). But great fan stuff.

If tech was far enough, I'm sure teams wouldnt mind to hook those up on QBs like Sanchize with a Heads-up display that shows "OPEN GUY HERE" ICONS.

NFL needs to OUTLAW this hardware in real games though; quickly, before anybody whips up an app to actually turn sanchize into a passable QB. QBs would get more of an advantage than any other player and the O already gets enough advantages.

Shades of the Green Light, RED Light system they tried with the moron a couple years back!

In the comments to that article there is lots of discussion about using game films from the POV cam. I'll copy and paste my comment
Look up the video taping rule. After the part where it says never is the part about a room with a roof and walls. Does a helmet qualify as a room?

I despise google glass. I'll probably end up in jail the first time I see someone wearing them looking my way.

Seriously, there's a tech line that should never be crossed, and google glass is that in spades.

When I heard a while back you couldn't watch pr0n on Google Glass I thought, "well there's another useless invention."

But now, there may be applications for enhancing sports viewing! If they add beer holders to the earpieces, I'm back on board!

NFLN will be charging $30/game for cheerleader locker room google glass access

When I saw the thread title I thought the topic was about an internet search that yielded the results "Tony Eason".

nah, JMT..a thread about THAT would be "Ball is snapped, QB falls to ground clutching his groin in fear"....

You brought back memories that I had kept repressed for some time now. Sigh.

“The technology allows players to don the glasses and record and save video.”

I wonder what Belichick is thinking??

at what point does "mark of the beast" begin to become apparent in this age of humanity?

look, I read this more than two decades ago when it first came out...

The Holographic Universe explores the metaphysical implications that underline quantum mechanics and suggests that the universe is a hologram . After examining the work of physicist David Bohm and neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, each of whom independently arrived at holographic theories or models of the universe, the book argues that a holographic model could possibly explain supersymmetry and also various paranormal and anomalous phenomena and is the basis for mystical experience.

since that time we, as the organized bits of spastic protoplasm that we are, have survived one catastrophic, cataclysmic event after another. Who can forget the hysteria generated by the quatrains of Nostradamus, post September 11th?...and the rippling, seething. molten fear brought forth by the Mayan Calendar predictions?...and then the asteroids....one just missed the earth a few months back that would have instant ice aged us into the frozen tundra had it struck...so far, we've dodged these bullets better than Rex Ryan dodged the bulls of Pamplona...but suppose, just suppose, this Google Glass idea takes root in our societies worldwide....the allegorical "mark of the beast" come to life...I shudder to think of the dire implications....

A pair given to Mark Sanchez would blow up given the 11 concurrent choices of player to throw an interception directly to.

Hey, if they can get people to type messages into a telephone and pay to do it, watch television on a 2 inch screen because its portable and pay even more for it. Then I am sure they can talk the NFL and Goodell to do just about anything.

Hilarious!

That said I see the future of TV being more interactive where for a fee $, viewers could select a helmet cam or whatever, a wide field All 22 cam or even a cheerleader cam for Patsfan pervs. Goodell's owner mandate is to increase revenue. Viewer options for an additional fee (Hello RedZone) is one way.

I keep picturing a visual template from Iron Man where the QB scans the field and "open WR" and "villain DB" icons pop up all over the field...Jarvis tells the QB, "there is a safety trying to cheat on your right, WR2 is about to make a break down the sideline, I suggest throwing to him, sir."

Fortunately a billion posters commented on that article with the exact same idea. Very original.

I can well imagine the size of the server array that every frikkin' team will need if an interactive system is brought online. heck, even if it's just a system whereby you can select specific player cams to see what they are seeing, etc.

Add in gol post cams, overhead cams, etc, and several million viewers all trying to access it at the same time and there's an area ripe for disaster.

It's bad enough the way this forum slows down or even shuts down on some game days. Can you imagine the system requirements for several million viewers to join in? They'll need an NSA sized structure to accommodate the servers and power generators.

And to fund it, prices will, of course, simply HAVE to be adjusted upward.

Mark of the beast indeed. I wonder if any numerologists can tell us if Goodell translates to 666.......
