Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore, or Margus Hunt at 29?

Trade up to sign Impact-Werner.
Fellow German SeaBass will help him to Convert into Pats System in Lightning Speed. Select an WR with next pick, Brady will make EVERY 2nd or 3rd rounder shine....

Except:

Bethel Johnson
Taylor Price
Brandon Tate
Chad Jackson...

Sorry, couldn't resist :)

I don't agree with trading up for Werner, but do agree that we could draft our receiver(s) in the 2nd round and later.

If we could come out of the first round with Werner, Carradine, Hopkins, Patterson or Xavier Rhodes I'm pretty happy, not many others who I want in that spot... much prefer a trade down

i don't really want either of these guys the only DE i would want in the first is Carradine or Ziggy id much rather get a dT like hankins or short or a cb like taylor, rhodes or banks

Werner won't make it to #29 but he is also very unlikely to go top ten. NYG at #19 is probably his ceiling.

As for Moore - ick. I doubt we'd take him with our #2 if he were there. Immature, poor work ethic, not a good athlete. No thanks.

I wouldn't use the #2 on him either - the #2 should be OL.

I would use the 6th rounder on Spence - he's a monster who is two-three years away at an inside DL or NT position.

ATippett56 said he was ranked 9th overall just because the CBS rankings said so. It was an attempt to laugh at those who realize he'll go closer to 29 than to 9 although I think he'll go between 18-25.

Werner shows up in the top 10 in various mock drafts. He won't make it to 29.

In old mock drafts maybe. In recent ones, Werner falls much lower.

I'm a big fan of Werner... his stock has fallen somewhat since /during the combine. He doesn't go top 10 now IMO

If Werner or Hunt are there at 29, I would not be upset if the Pats take either one. Hunt ran a 4.61 at 277 pounds. He's a freak of nature. Imagine how many passes and kicks he'd deflect at 6'8". Werner is a sack master, I'd be excited if we landed him. I'd be happy with either guy in the first round. Both hard workers and no red flags.

What about Brandon Jenkins. Never saw him as a great fit when he was being talked of as a 1st rounder but FRX draft have him ranked as a 4th rounder. CBS have him at 284

I've always been uneasy when a school is sending out three players at the same position. I honestly think Brandon Jenkins is the best football player of the three and only having to a use a 3rd or later on him is a steal.

I recently re-watched Werner and a big red flag came up. There are times that he shows great hustle but then there are often times that he just stands around and watches as the play finishes as opposed to getting his hands dirty so to speak.

There is no doubt he's a great pass rusher but I question his overall fit to New England. I question his motor/effort and I think he's very raw as a guy who will set the edge or just stuff the run, period.

If you guys want a one trick pony pass rusher, I think there are later options that would provide more value.

Rewatch Chandler Jones at Syracuse and you can see the immediate instincts/hustle against the run as well as his strength/pass rush ability and understand why New England jumped on. Werner lacks the strength/run instincts and hustle IMO.

Could Werner develop both? Absolutely but I'd rather not waste a 1st round pick hoping he can be coached up.
