Mocking for the pats... who to pick

Williams went to the panthers the pick after my Hunter pick. Menelick Watson went next.

My plan is to take Robert Woods if hes still there next, that or Kawann Short. If both are gone its likely to be the best CB available. Or even another WR

Jonathan Jenkins is also still available...

So two picks before the pats.... top of my board is
1. Robert Woods
2. Jamar Taylor
3. DJ Hayden
4. Darius Slay
5. Jonathan Jenkins
6. Bildi Wreh-Wilson
7. Sio Moore
8. Justin Pugh

oohhh, if Jamar Taylor falls I think you gotta get him. Yet I would completely understand if you went for a DT, even though we just signed Kelly it still seems like a glaring need at the moment.

Stunned Patterson went that high.

Stay away from Jenkins. He's big and can stop the run, but he offers nothing in a passrush. We already have one of those in Love. Nothing but a decent role player.

Also surprised Carradine went that high. I hope he drops to our 2nd or a high 3rd we could trade back into in the real draft. Would be a classic Belichick pick. Guy is a top 20 talent.

People talk about how deep this draft, but really it's a couple top 10 worthy picks, then 20-50 is all about the same. After that there is a pretty big drop off, in my opinion at least.

I would have taken Sylvester with the first second and grabbed a WR later. There are a lot of solid WRs in this draft and not a ton of DTs.

Houston will pick Woods, just pray Denver doesn't take a Jamar. He should have gone top 40. Slay is a decent consolation prize at that spot though.

Not to critique - but did you really take Justin Hunter and all of his dropped passes over guys like Margus Hunt, Kevin Minter and Matt Elam?

This draft is deep in wide receiving and out of all of the guys that were selected with the Patriots 1st pick in the draft, you took a wide receiver that has a drop rate of nearly 30%.

I would have been more patient. If there are two wideouts in this draft class that I don't like it is Hunter (drops) and Rogers (attitude).

One other thing - there is no way that the Dolphins are drafting Franklin in the 2nd round like that either. They are letting Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas battle it out.

Packers repicked Brandon Jenkins, Houston took Jamar Taylor. Hope the broncos don't take woods. And on hunter, I like him and in version 1 of this mock he was taken before this point so I had to take him at that point

Denver took Jamie Collins, Robert Woods, very happy

It's great that you managed to get Robert Woods still. But that also highlights how much of a mistake taking Justin Hunter where you did was.

I couldn't have got both... theres a guy on the other site who is a vols fans and he had 2 team Texans and Panthers, he took him with the panthers pick in the mock version 1.0 the pick after i'd took him.

Not a bad double up there at WR with Hunter and Woods.

Takes advantage of a deepish position in the draft and one of our glaring needs.

Amendola, Woods, Hunter, Gronk and Hernandez sounds pretty good to me giving Tom some weapons to use and keeping our OL the same as last year has to make the trigger man happy.

I like both guys and I am especially starting to come around on Woods. I think the key if we do double dip is to try and get guys that match up and I think Hunter and Woods do that by being so different and offering varied skill sets. Hunter is the long, lean outside guy can demand double coverage, stretch the field and work the deep and intermediate area's. Woods is a versatile, explosive play maker that is also a reliable possession guy (although like Hunter, he needs to improve his concentration). I know a lot of people compare Tavon Austin to Percy Harvin, but thats kind of who I would compare Woods too. While he might not be as fast or explosive as Harvin, he is probably a more natural receiver down the field. But they both offer great versatility, play making ability and they force the defense to account for them on every play.

Now I do have my concerns about this pairing, especially the lack of physicality. I think right now Hunter is a pure Z-receiver (flanker) and until he can add some bulk to his game I think that is his best spot. Woods to me is a hybid slot/flanker who can line up in both, but once again isn't a guy you wan't split out on the line. If we did draft these two I would look to trade down from one of the 3rd round picks and target someone like Marquess Wilson in the 5th round to play on the outside.

I think that would be a hell of a WR group, which to me is more important than just a few talented top guys. It has versatility and is able to cover for injuries to just about anyone.

Amendola- Slot
Woods- Slot/Flanker
Hunter- Flanker (potential split end if he can add a physical element)
Wilson- Flanker/Split End
Jones/Jenkins- Split End/Flanker

I think this would probably mean the end for Edelman because Woods would take over the #2 slot WR role and potentially as punt returner. Hunter offers the freak athlete with huge AJ Green like potential, but doesn't force him into a major role early and gives him time to develop. Wilson, Jones, Jenkins and whoever else we bring in have to earn the 4th and 5th WR spots so we have good competition in camp. I really think this could be a hell of a WR group.

I'd take Jamar Taylor in a heartbeat.

Slay or Taylor- flip a coin.
