Re: Emmanuel Sanders signs offer sheet (Unconfirmed report)

It looks like belichick may have brought sanders for a visit to put some pressure on lloyd to restructure. I doubt sanders gets signed to an offer sheet.

this makes no sense at all. bring in sanders a RFA to put pressure on lloyd to restructure when he was already willing to restructure? like said above me..he was always getting cut...so that theory is wrong. very good chance he signs a sheet with all of the reported interest. it's smart to wait

Sanders has had 3 surgeries on his feet in his 3 year career.

After seeing plenty of complaints about the signing of Amendola, and his injury history, why in the world would anyone want to give up a 3rd round pick, and pay him just as much if not more than Amendola?

Signing Sanders would be a mistake, and a big one at that.

Pittsburgh would be thrilled to get a 3rd rounder, for him.

He is a young promising talent in the NFL and had a pretty good year last year. very good route runner. What the pats need. I think it would be far from a mistake

Can we kill this thread already...there is nothing much here to see folks.:snob:

Re: Emmanuel Sanders signs offer sheet (Unconfirmed report)

The Pats have one month from today before they have to make a move. April 19, the Friday before the draft, is the deadline for them to sign Sanders to an offer sheet. I don't think the fact that it hasn't happened yet says anything about whether it will happen. As long as the Pats don't see another team getting to him before they do, then there's no reason to do anything but sit back and watch the Steelers sign players that eat up their cap room.

Idk. Living in Pa., and being subjected to every Steelers game I fail to see anything exciting about the guy.

I'd like to see him actually prove he can be a #2 WR before throwing a payday and a pick at him.

I mean having Wallace, and Brown draw coverage the way they do he should have put up huge numbers last year.

Jeremy Maclin would be a much safer acquisition, if he could be had for a 3rd, IMO.

Wallace- 119 targets 64 rec 836 yards
Brown- 105 targets 66 rec 787 yards
Sanders- 74 targets 44 rec 626 yards
not to mention the security blanket Heath Miller 101 targets 71 rec 816 yards

Losing Wallace is going to hurt those numbers...when he suits up for Pittsburgh next year.

Some yahoo who runs a FB Pats site insists that Sanders signed the Pats offer sheet YESTERDAY. Not being a denizen of Twitter I don't know what the sports twits have to say about this. Crickets?

Was there a 5 day period where we were supposed to find out? Or does the 5 day period start after the sheet is signed?

He has to sign the sheet first and then the steelers have 5 days to match.

All this talk was brought about by a female reporter who was wrong on two counts. Abraham has not signed (or agreed) to a contract and Sanders has not signed an offersheet.

But it has been confirmed Abraham and Sanders visited so it's not like the talk is completely unwarranted

I think they have a better chance at getting sanders as they still have a month to decide on him and let pitt waste $$ on some more players. Abraham. Who knows. he didn't like anyones offer but with the market this year..no one is liking their $$ besides the top 4 guys

Possibly a case of waiting until the window is closer to squeeze Pittsburgh.
Horde some cap space, then make a late offer with a roster bonus that is harder to match. A roster bonus, rather than signing bonus, front-loads the contract.

Does it matter that the reporter is female?

Does anybody know if there's an end date on when you can sign a RFA to an offer sheet? The reason I ask is if not why wouldn't the Patriots, or any team, have a wink-wink deal in place and not make the offer until the day after the draft? The 3rd rounder for Sanders now becomes a 2014 draft pick which is essentially a 4th round value. I have to imagine they have some sort of check in place for this but my google search returned no evidence of one.

Yes, the end date is just before the draft. Once that passes, the player can't sign with another team. That's to avoid having the situation above.
