Reiss Thinks That We Still Need 2 Corners

yeah, and let's just bear in mind trade possibilities.

pats still seem to be sitting on some fat cap for some reason -- something's up.

Agreed. No question that they are maintaining maximum flexibiity but with only 5 draft picks, there isn't a lot to trade with unless a team is willing to take less value in picks in favor of finanical freedom.

Talib is going to get hurt.
Dennard will be in jail.
Arrington can't play the outside
Dowling will get hurt.

Right now we're hoping and praying they last a full season when it's unlikely they'll last 4 games- even assuming Dennard isn't thrown in jail. We need at least one more corner. Counting on Dowling and Talib is a pretty foolish idea to do.

That, or get a decent corner that can be a #2 along with a safety so that leaves McCourty to float back and forth where needed.

Having one of your top 2 defensive backs float between corner and safety is NOT good idea. That is the role of the #7, #8 or #9 defensive back.

However, the decision can be delayed until mid-August. We need to see how everything works out, especially for Dowling, any additions still TBD and any rookie.

A 5'9" 180lb guy has S/CB versatility?

I'm sorry but this guy is going to bomb hard at the pro-level.

He was 186 at the combine. Gregory is 5"11 185, and has such versatility, except he is nowhere near the player Mathieu is, and nowhere near as solidly built. The Honey Badger is primarily a slot/special teams weapon, but he has experience playing every position in the secondary, is the best playmaker in memory at the position, and is very solidly built. IMO, this guy is invaluable in that he can competently (although perhaps not expertly) play every position in the secondary, and is a special teams demon to boot.I would not mind if we used a low second on him.

Care to explain why such a dominant college player who made huge plays in the biggest games against the best competition, and who tested well at the combine, is going to "bomb hard" in the NFL? Would you have thought the same if not for all this nonsense about smoking weed?
