Wes Welker signs with Denver Broncos

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Again: it's really only unacceptable in absence of a backup plan. Maybe we should see how they plan to move on in lieu of Welker before we break out the pitchforks.

Jennings or Cruz better be a backup plan if that's the case.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Brady's gonna wonder why he signed that lifetime deal.
I guess he'll think that he doubled his guaranteed money by signing it. We don't even know if Wes is gone yet, just that he's talking to the Broncos and will decide by the end of today (maybe). Naturally, Tom would be upset if Wes goes to a competitor in the AFC but we also don't know what plan B the Patriots have should Wes depart.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

I just hope The Foot Reference Presser isn't still in BB's head.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Bob Kraft has some dedicated season ticket holders. We pay the highest ticket prices in the NFL and $40 to park our vehicles. In my case I started following them in 1959 when the franchise was awarded to Billy Sullivan.
I list them right along with my family as things I love.

I must confess that the Welker thing has me bummed out. Bob Kraft made a statement in New York about Welker being a Patriot for life. Little did I
realize that he had his fingers crossed behind his back and was giving us a
con job. His speech was for the purpose of making us believe that he
wanted Welker very badly when he knew all along that Belichick was planning
to duimp him.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

I'm already in meltdown mode. Our O was pathetic last year when we tried the Edelman slot experiment in game 1. This offense runs through Welker. We haven't won a superbowl in 10 years. Fans are overconfident when we beat up on pathetic AFCE competition. We get our teeth kicked in by good defenses and mediocre quarterbacks every year. I, for one, am tired of it. I'm calling out BB's and Krafts ridiculous egos. They think they're smarter than everyone else. They're not. And lets face it, our SB winning teams were built by Parcells, not BB. This guys ego is friggin gigantic. Congratulations on squandering the best years of TB's HOF career with this horseshyte.:bricks:

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

I wish someone would explain this to me. How are the Broncos going to play Welker $10MM/yr and then next year year play Thomas more than $10MM and Decker a little less than $10MM. How can you have a successful salary structure when your 3 WRs and QB take up over $50MM of your cap space.

They'll be fine THIS year, but going forward, I don't see how they can manage those numbers.

I suggest, next time you're having a meltdown, that you keep these thoughts to yourself.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

If Welker signs in Denver how will we complain about having to many smurf WRs?

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

lol this site is ridiculous some (read as most) of the times. They Pats aren't letting Welker go to the Broncos just because they don't want to pay him. They obviously feel like they have other more viable options to improve the offense. Welker was one of my favorite Patriots over the past 5 years but I think its pretty apparent at this point in time that Brady is what makes this offense go, not welker. The Patriots aren't going to just sit on the money that Brady "gave back" have some patience for once.

That is not necessarily true, as we have seen in the pass with some of the moves that have been made. They just set a value on a player, and don't really deviate far from that value.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Not really going to hold it against Welker if he leaves. Probably going to get more money in Denver and be treated a little better. Huge loss better get Amendola down here immediately.

Pathetic in week 1? 25 first downs and 390 yards, so pathetic

If you're tired of seeing the team get beat in the playoffs you shouldn't be having a strop about losing Welker too, he wanted money he isn't worth - money that will go on improving the WHOLE TEAM not on one greedy player.

Name me a player besides Law and Brown who was drafted by Parcells. Clearly your concern about Welker has made you delusional.

BTW- Parcells left BECAUSE he couldn't buy the groceries. You can't have it both ways. He either built those superbowl teams or he lied about why he left.

Well I am sure they are hoping to win this year, and then just gut the team like Baltimore did. Guess they would be in a win now mode.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

I don't know how anyone can be upset about this until we see how much Welker's offer with Denver is and what Plan B is. That's assuming that keeping Welker was even Plan A.

I agree with most of what you say, except for the GREEDY player bit, that is not necessary.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

more money to spend for resigning talib, vollmer and then signing a couple cb's as well like lewis and nnamdi along with maybe someone like pollard. I think Hernandez and Edelmen can affectively pick up the slack with hernandez playing a little more in the slot

Maybe, the Broncos don't care what 2015 might bring. They see a window of opportunity and they're going for it. Of course, in Foxboro, 2015 cap concerns are more important than the product on the field in 2013.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Jennings would be an expensive downgrade.

Amendola would be a significant downgrade thats made of glass.

Only move that wouldnt be a downgrade would be Cruz, but it requires a 1st.

So, pretty much, plan B isnt that great.

Re: Schefter: Denver in serious talks with Wes

Good, use that money on defense.

What's the market on Jennings though?
