Year 2 Expectations

A) I have two major problems with your post. First, you list "tackles" and you mean "tackles plus assists". Secondly, you use the word "expect" instead of the more accurate "hope". Most here share you hopes but not your expectations.

B) A minor problem is that you expect an awful lot from Wilson. You essentially think that he will outperform McCourty. Much more "likely" share reps with Gregory and/or newcomers (possibly a free agent and/or a rookie).

C) Your expectation that Bequette will replace Cunningham, Love or Deaderick for reps and tackles is certainly possible. There is just no reason to believe that this will happen. I believe that your estimate that it will be Francis who moves up in the depth chart is right.

D) And now, we come to Jones and Hightower. They will improve as they learn the game. That needn't translate into more talkies. I'm fine with Mayo and Spikes being our leading tacklers.

E) My BOTTOM LINE is that I "expect" some players to perform better and some to perform worse. On average, I expect improvement among second year players.

What do you expect from these players in their 2nd season? These are mine.

Chandler Jones - 72 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 8 batted balls, 5 forced fumbles
Dont'e Hightower - 95 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 8 pass defends, 2 forced fumbles
Tavon Wilson - 85 tackles, 5 interceptions, 12 pass defends, 2 fumble recoveries
Jake Bequette - 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks
Nate Ebner - 20 tackles(12 ST), 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 pass defends
Alfonzo Dennard - 55 tackles, 8 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 18 pass defends
Justin Francis - 20 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries
Jamie Ebert - Cut in camp
Marcus Fortson - Makes practice squad
Markus Zusevics - Rotational swing tackle with limited snaps.

I really think a full offseason and understanding the NFL is going to take Jones, Hightower and Dennard to elite levels.

I actually think the OP was designed around offering your own predictions not criticize mine. I might be wrong but at least I have balls enough to put myself out there and receive feedback whether it be negative or positive. My OP gives you the choice of what type of man you want to be.. So far you're deciding to be the 2nd guy feel free to be the other guy anytime now Andy.

People who have football knowledge do not feel the need to put down others like you do they have self confidence and belief in there knowledge they offer facts and attempt to teach others. The other group of people are a insecure man with minimal intelligence who uses aggression as a means to disguise the reality of it all themselves. I don't know which you are but so far you are showing more tendencies in our interactions to the 2nd guy in this grouping as well.

It isn't being negative to point out your EXPECTATIONS are just unrealisitc.
You just said you EXPECT Jones will play like what may be the 2 best DL in the NFL right now, and certainly are both top 10, for no real reason other than hope.
JPP was a part time player as a rookie, and is a totally different kind of football player than Jones.
Watt is a 300 lb 34 DE, again totally different.

Look, I think that you and I talking football is just like night and day.

But Jones at double digit sacks I can certainly believe that.

The guy is not saying 20 sacks, he's saying 13 which is totally doable for a player of Jones' talent level as long as he stays healthy and gets some help on the opposite side so teams can't just focus on double teaming him all game long.

That was my opening line in my OP. what part of that equals Mgteich what do you think of my expectations for these players?

If I was looking to hear that I'd of written as follows. What do you guys think of my expectations for these 2nd year player? And then I'd entertain what you had written but this was not setup to debate whether I have to high of expectations it was setup to hear other people make predictions.

No that is how you all think a discussion board is setup but the reality is if you disagree with one persons opinion or expectation you should first open yourself up in the same way and offer your own opinion instead of thinking its ok to just say something about someone else.

Example would be nordcircle I think Francis is like to to have 5-6 sacks next year and your 9-10 is really optimistic.

Not nordcircle there is no way Francis has 9-10 sacks you're delusional.
