Report: Brandon Lloyd's 'erratic behavior proved tiresome', may lead to release

All I'm going to say is this: I cannot imagine any scenario in which the Patriots let Brady, Edelman, Branch, AND Lloyd all go.

Brady = Welker?

Sorry to see that another WR project seems to have bitten the dust.

Probably just a sign that they've got a handshake deal to trade Mallett for Fitzgerald :halo:

This is based on Bedard's report and appears to amplify his words in the process.

If true, it will be interesting to see how the WR position is addressed thereafter. This would leave the Pats with two needs at outside receiver (assuming Branch is also not returning).

Report: Brandon Lloyd Not Expected Back in 2013 Due to ‘Erratic Behavior’ | New England Patriots | NESN.com

Not sure what "erratic behavior." McD is the one who brought him here. Another 4.9 million in cap savings. The pats are close to 30 million under the cap if i am not mistaken.

That's unfortunate:
1. Lets see what they do at the position now
2. Lets see how it plays out in the year

I don't like it, what if we can't bring back either Edelman or Wes? For them to do this it must mean both those guys are sure bets to return

Biggest problem with Lloyd was the way we used him

With Lloyd and Branch likely gone who will fill the 5yard-catch,-drop-to-the-ground,pop-back-up-and-jog-back-to-the-huddle void??

Be honest, Branch was not that guy last year, he was just a decoy.

makes sense if welker's return is a given......

they can then focus on a real deep threat.

Upon hearing the news that he wouldnt be back in 2013, Lloyd fell down.

74 passes for 911 yards and four touchdowns

thats a bunch of production that's gotta be made up somewhere

not sure if it means anything, but 4 of Lloyds best 5 games as a patriot were all losses

4 losses -> 438 yards
12 wins -> 484 yards

Welker, Edelman, and Lloyd, perhaps, but I'm pretty sure I can offer more at WR right now than Branch.

Either way, WR is now the #1 priority by a mile, even if Welker is retained.

Fortunately, they have plenty of money.

If this is the case, the Patriots have to re-sign Welker, be players in FA at the WR position, and in the draft no later than round 2. Lloyd was very productive for us. I have to think that the behavior was really bad in this instance for the Pats to cut a guy that just turned in a 900+ yard season when the position is so thin.

Fortunately, they have plenty of money.

Too bad every WR they have picked up after Welker has been a bust. Yes, I am counting the perennially injured Julian.

I find it highly unlikely that they can get a WR to replace Lloyd's numbers.

The title should be changed. He's not out.

911 yards a bust? Maybe a disapointment, but certainly not a bust.

I'll take one, but it's not a deep threat that we need, per se. It's a big bodied, athletic receiver that can threaten every level of the field but specializes outside the hashes. For example, if it were a decision between Mike Wallace and Demaryius Thomas for the Pats, I'm taking Thomas every day and twice on Sundays. The latter is also the bigger red zone threat as well.

You take Thomas regardless of whether you need a deep threat, because he's a much better receiver.
