Prediction: Double Draft WR's this year

BB has done it with TE, RB, and last year he kind of did it again with two DE/OLB players (Hightower played a lot of snaps at DE in college and played around the LOS a lot this year)


This year I think we draft 2 WR's.



Who would be your choices?

I like Tavon Austin and Robert Woods as replacements for Welker. Both are way faster than him too. Woods can play on the outside as well. Similar to DeSean Jackson.

DeAndre Hopkins will be a stud WR too IMO. More of an outside guy. Roddy White is a good comparison.

Terrance Williams is a deep field threat. Cant argue with his production.




then in the 2nd or 3rd round.... look for a complimentary WR. Maybe Stedman Bailey.

I'd be happy with that.

Two very different WR's, but Austin would be a good Welker replacement and I'm on record as saying Robert Woods, if he adjusts his mentality just a bit, is going to be the best WR in this draft class, which is stacked with WR's.

I don't like woods in the first round.... If Patterson is there @ 29 that would be my pick. In the second round i like austin, williams, and hunter

in the 3rd/4th Da'rick Rogers would be my pick

Jones and Bequette were both play DE, he didn't sort of double up, he did double up.

Not to put a damper, but I personally think Woods is about the most overrated player in this draft. Watching USC tape, his fight for the ball is terrible, and always seems to be chasing the ball opposed to setting up plays.

Austin on the other hand, I could get behind.

I think Markus Wheaton (Oregon State) early and Chris Harper (Kansas State) late would be a great double-down option.

Harper is a big strong kid (6-2, 228) who I could see falling due to speed concerns, but he's a player who really goes up and gets the ball. Wheaton has jets and is pretty polished.

Lloyd-Wheaton-Harper would be a really nice group. Lloyd is the vet who can run all the routes, Wheaton is the burner (though I can see him being more than just that, he's a pretty clean route runner), Harper is a RZ threat and jam-breaker who can get you a slant like David Givens.

I'd have no problem with that option, I just question whether Hernandez and Harper would be too similar in what they provide for the Patriots.

I like the idea of Wheaton/Patton and Ace Sanders and then a later round TE option like Toilolo, Kasa or Fauria.

Along with re-signing Edelman that would give us:

Slot: Sanders/Wheaton or Edelman
Deep Threat: Wheaton/Edelman
Possession Receivers/Chain movers: Lloyd/Hernandez
End zone - Sanders/Gronk/one of above 3 TE's

He had an ankle injury in 2012 which he couldn't seem to shake off and it definitely limited him. He seemed to let his head drop too easily and seems mentally weak. That can be adjusted though.

He has great hands, excellent body control, is a precise route runner, was extremely speedy before his ankle issues and although he dropped off a bit in 2012 he showed signs of getting back to his elite speed towards the end of the year. Makes yard after the catch and is a serious red zone threat.

I know he wasn't as productive in 2012 but his skillset excites me, I really think the kid could be elite. It all depends on the health of his ankle and adjusting his attitude a little, but he'd be the first WR I'd draft.

I'm thinking Quinnton Patton in the mid second and Ryan Swope in the 5th or so.

Ryan Swoper doesn't look like that much but he reminds me of a certain....WES WELKER!

Those are the needs as I see them. I think we'll look for a CB and either a DE/DT or S through free agency (though I'm for drafting a safety). After that, I don't see any reason why Belichick couldn't double up at WR. I, personally, don't want it. But it's not that it's theoretically impossible due to a high amount of needs.
