Re-sign Edelman?

Why you gotta name 3 players on the verge of retirement, 1 that is out of the league, a rookie, practice squad guy and a 2015 pick trade that got cut?

Seriously, Welker can be replaced but it's gonna be to an established player and its gonna cost.

Ya'll are out of your minds if you think keeping a 32 yr old Wes Welker and paying him the 9+ million over 3+ years he wants is good for the team instead of getting a younger better player for similar money.

For the point you just made is why i want the pats to get tavon austin. He's the younger welker. This guy has so much potential. if he can translate what he's done in college to the pros, WOW. But let's see what they do.

I'm with the majority. Edelman is good (not great, but decidedly good) as a PR and OK as a #4 WR.

I like him because he's versatile and he was just starting to show what he was made out of. I think his ceiling is higher than what i originally thought. Resign him, let welker walk, sign a WR in FA like bowe jennings whoever take your pick, and draft a WR in 1-2nd round.

bowe....ughhhh no

Trivia question: Without looking it up—
(1) Where does Edelman rank, since 2009, in punt return average (counting only players who've returned at least 10 punts)?

(2) How many players have more PR touchdowns over that span than Edelman?

The answers surprised me.

Please create a list of those younger, better players that are available for similar money.

Compare their productivity with Welker's this past year.

Compare their productivity in their 6 best games of this past year with Welker's 6 worst games of this past year.

Entertain me.

I hope Edelman is back. He's a fine #3 WR and a very dangerous punt returner, plus he's valuable as a running QB on the scouting team and desperation CB option. $1.5-2M a year seems reasonable.

Danny Amendola looks like a damn good wes welker replacement.

health is an issue with him....not as durable as welker

Welker could get run over by a bus and still get up and run back to the huddle

Not many players have tom brady throwing to them.

I'm amazed at how little confidence everyone here has in the patriots at finding talent.

Remember Wes welker was nothing before the patriots.

Welker is also getting older and those hits will soon start to effect him.

That's awfully generous. It's a bigger deal if you make it 20, and that's a completely reasonable number.

If missing 20 of a possible 32 games over the past two seasons, and usually playing through a nagging injury even when he did take the field

doesn't concern you in the least.

He has a lower drop rate.

More often than not, that low drop rate didn't do much good, being parked on the sidelines. He had two outstanding games, and also games of 1 catch, 1 catch when targeted 5 times, 2 catches when targeted 7 times....

3/14/2012: Signed a three-year, $5.4 million contract. The deal included a $2 million signing bonus. An annual $100,000 workout bonus is available. 2013-2014: $1.2 million, 2015: Free Agent

we have yet to see hits effect him so no one knows if they will ever effect him no matter how old he gets

Remember Wes welker was nothing before the patriots.

Leading the league in all-purpose yards while playing for a joke of an organization is nothing?

Having more all-purpose yards in his first three NFL seasons than any player in NFL history not named Gale Sayers (ask your grandpa) is nothing?

This is getting embarrassing (for you)...
