Grossman should have been the MVP of the superbowl...he did more for the colts than manning did!
It really makes you wonder why the Chicago Bears organization acquired quarterback Brian Griese in free agency when the head coach had no intention whatsoever to play him.

As much as he was loved here... Bledsoe's game against GB was right up there for poor SB QB performance..

1 Grossman
2 Collins
3 Eason
4 Jaworski
5 Kelly
6 Bledsoe

6 of the worst sb performence of all time

This list is not complete without Roethlisberger!

One suspects that the bargaining power of FA QBs went up significantly. It also doesn't take a genius to realise that they might be looking at the draft. He is woefully short of the decision making ability and calmness under pressure and should not be starting in the NFL.

Edit: Looking at the UFA list, there is only really Damon Huard and he has question marks.

i was at the game.

Being there made Grossman look worse.

Seriously, he would lob the ball and put so much air under it it was scary.

and after he would try to throw "deeP" down the sidelines you would hear a few "what the ****?" 's

being there made him look much worse than the highlights i saw on tv b/c you could see everything going on especially up in the nosebleeds.

One of his worst plays was the 2nd and 2 where he fumbled the snap, then dove backwards on the ball losing 8 yards, and the play where he was scrambling and could have had a first down if he ran but instead he threw an off balance incomplete pass.

he is god awful.

Losing TWO fumbles on snaps has to be a record. The pick which got returned for a TD had an unbelievable amount of air under it.

The Bears would have had a better chance with Cassel or Testaverde under center. Incidentally, IMO this Bears team is among the worst SB teams of the last 15 years.

The 2000 Giants and 1994 Chargers might have been worse, but not by much.

I assume they got him just in case Grossman got hurt (which most bears fans were rooting for) However I would be surprised if he is their starter next year!

The Grossman pick for a touchdown may have been the worst thrown ball in Super Bowl history since Garo Yepremian.

Gee, is the media playing up the fact that the Bears lost the game, not that the Colts won, like they did when we beat San Diego? Because the Bears were far worse, thanks mostly to Rexy.

With one year of seasoning under the direction of Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner, Matt Cassel would have beaten the Indianapolis Colts.

Let's offer them Matt for their #1 pick. That's a win-win for everyone.:rocker:

Yep......scratching my head on that one.....Griese would have been a HUGE upgrade over Rex last night...and most likely all season.....Not making this adjustment last night....when they had nothing ELSE TO LOSE......is a blunder by Lovie ( hate that name by the way).....one man's opinion

Hard to say with Griese, since Griese was beaten out by Plummer who was beaten out by Cutler who lost to the Niners...

Still, there were very few short-to-medium range passes for the Bears all night, except towards garbage time. I got the impression they were really afraid of the LBs like Brackett and June. If and when Grossman did drop back to throw it, they were deep attempts, which I'm assuming to mean either "if we don't get it, they won't get it", or "even if they intercept it, they'll be deep in their own territory for our defense"...

Really strange.

I could care less who won. The thing that got me was the media stating that the Indy front four dominated the line of scrimmage. They absolutely did not. It's unfair to the Bear's offensive line and a slap in the face. They held their own at the point of attack and gave him ample time to throw. Grossman sacked himself twice fumbled twice and threw 2 picks. Not to mention scrambled out of the pocket before his protection could even stabilize. Basically he didn't step up or away from the pressure,he just ran from the snap. I thought Rothlesberger sucked, but this one took the cake.

BTW I think if the Bear's even had a average QB in there the outcome may have changed. Kitna,Pennington,Hasselback,Romo would of probably did ok.

Rex was horrible! The first INT was an absolute lob into double coverage! He should have been picked at least four times.

Somewhere Neil O'Donnell is smiling, no longer wearing the "Worst performance by a Quaterback in the Super Bowl" T-shirt.

Grossman was dismal...

20 for 28 (71%), 165 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT

...but wait! Let's look at last year's WINNING qb:

10 for 22, (45%) 158 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT

Yes, Ben Roethlisberger was even worse! Although, to be fair, he was at least able to handle a snap from center.

Lovie's determination to stick with Rex through thick and thin seemed preposterous during the season and proved utterly disastrous. The Bears were thoroughly outcoached during the game, too.

It would of been a great story ending had the Smith let Griese play the 2nd half. Imagine the story lines had Griese went in there. Thrown 2 td passes and got the MVP award? A guy who didn't play a game in the regular and steps right in and wins it for his team.
