Who would be a good fit...scratch that....Who do you want on our roster next year of these potential FAs. Odds are very good we look to free agency for our WR needs seeing as how rookie receivers can be unpredictable.

Greg Jennings
Mike Wallace
Dwayne Bowe
Josh Cribbs
Danny Amendola
Kevin Ogletree
Brian Hartline
Donald Driver
Randy Moss

I would love to see Bowe here, but not at the price he will get. Wallace would be a nice option, but still probably too costly - as for the rest - no thanks and I mean no disrespect to Moss - unless of course, there is a choice between Moss and Branch - Moss all day long.

Obviously the major question is whether Welker will be back, which looks bleak, so considering that:

Amendola is the most likely target. There are rumors the Pats tried to trade for him last year with their Josh McD connection. The question is what his market value would be. I could see them paying him something similar to what they offered Welker, since Amendola is younger. I don't agree with this decision, but I don't have the info they have. Seems to me like Wes has 2-3 good years and is little risk.

I think you can take Wallace and Jennings off the board, as they'll be too expensive. They will be shown the bank.

I think you can also take Bowe off the board. Attitude problems in KC; highly doubt he gets a glowing recommendation from Pioli, Crennel, etc. Good talent, probably not worth the contract he'll end up getting from a desperate team.

Cribbs? No way. Completely reliant on speed and no longer young. Those guys go quickly. If Edelman comes back healthy, I'd rather have him for punt returns and a gadget receiver.

Driver and Moss are both old. No sense in Moss coming back, since the Pats obviously do not want him. Driver is a potential 3rd WR bust who gets cut in training camp like the rest of them over the years.

Not sure about Ogletree or Harline... I guess you could say "if the price is right."

Obviously, the Pats will need to re-sign or replace Welker, but contrary to popular opinion, I think they'd be okay with Lloyd and some average #2 out there to go along with Gronknandez. Would not longer be record setting, but they'd still be good.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it:

Wes Welker
Julian Edelman

Larry Fitzgerald will be in a Patriots uniform sometime in the next 5 years. I'm convinced it. The last time Belichick had such obvious affection for a WR it was Ochocinco and while that didn't pan out I still think this team would do quite a bit to get Fitzgerald over here and Arizona is the sort of team that needs more than an all-pro WR to get it done.

I'm not big into Madden 2013 trade projections but I really feel strongly about this.

I think he finishes his career with Arizona, he seems so happy there....said no one ever. Could you imagina that beast on our roster? We would be breaking records on breaking records.

If Welker walks the hole is going to be so big that it really won't matter what they do, they will be significantly worse. Letting a HOF quality WR leave in the prime of his career would be the worst thing this team could do moving forward. They need to re-sign him and add a deep threat.

Unfortunately I think the Pats lack the cap space for Fitzgerald :(

But honestly I think if the Patriots tried to acquire him the league office would step in because it would be simply unfair ;)

Honestly none of these receivers excite me much. Most of them have significant issues.

Cribbs - not really a WR
Amendola - Basically a more injury prone Edelman
Ogletree - Hasn't done much. So you might as well take a cheaper draft pick
Driver - Old
Moss - Old
Bowe - Don't trust his hands. And will probably break the bank.

Maybe Hartline?

Other than his stupid old spice commercials, what's wrong with greg jennings?

Not only that but the offense is going in a direction that doesn't require balls to the wall for a world class outside receiver. If they get 80% of that for a good price that's different.

We need complimentary pieces, not an all star team. The Eagles have an all star team.

We have to realize that we have a Calvin Johnson caliber receiver named Gronk. Aaron is not far behind. How many do we need? They have to fit in a system, not just walk in and dominate it.

Groin injury concerns.

Of that list, Mike Wallace as the outside burner interests me (unless there's a comparative talent who has declared for the draft).

and didn't mike wallace want fitz money on his next contract? I can see a team playing close to it...reason why there is no chance he signs with NE..same with jennings...wayyy too much $$

Welker first. If the team doesn't come to terms with Welker then I would hope they bring in Amendola.

The only player I'd break the bank for is Larry Fitzgerald. That said, I'm happy enough with the Patriots roster acquisitions.

Truthfully, I'd rather continue to upgrade the D than continue splashes on O. Welkah is a must sign.

Word. Don't think that leaves much for other FA WRs.

Amendola plus either Harline or Jennings would be a good alternative if Welker leaves. But Welker first, as you say.

what happens if welker goes and we get none of the "big name" guys? I think this board would explode

Welker is gone IMO and sticking to it.

I don't get the all the Danny Amendola love.

He seems like a more injury prone version of Julian Edelman. Whereas Edelman has 4 years of experience with Brady and will likely be cheaper.

If Welker leaves I would rather try and replace him with a outside the number receiver. We have Gronk, Hernandez, and hopefully Ballard to work the middle of the field.

WES WELKER

but...

Randy Moss is a sweet cake.
