The Official Jets at Patriots Post-Game Thread

Great post....I have EXTREME difficulty disagreeing with you on any point you make. Not a very confident Pats fan right now going forward.......Brady did make the plays tho to get this done and YES....Gost made the kick..........Our D on the other hand..continues to be a re-occurring, festering sore.....

Let's not go overboard with Praise for Brady. He made several key mistakes. Cromartie holds on to the the int Brady put right in his hands and Jets win.

We have a whole tread about how the Jets suck, I guess we just suck slightly less. This was an ugly game by two average teams. Luckily except for Houston, the AFC is gonna be wide open, with the NFC having the better teams, and most likely Super Bowl winners.

Brady is clearly on the decline, but I can't believe the coaching staff that structured an offense around him can't run things better at this point in time. Maybe this is the end?

On Vereen - I realize his stats were OK By saying the bad, I meant I did not see enough to say if he can play or not. He is never used in any (must produce) situations. To me, he does not seem quick or sudden or elusive for the size running back he is. I envisioned him as a Kevin Faulk type player with his hands. Even with his decent stats, he did not seem to be a factor in the game like Woodhead was and is. To me Woodhead is a poor man's Wes Welker in the backfield. Teams expect more from a 2nd round running back. I hope I'm wrong on Vereen but I'm getting that Darius Butler feeling.

A win makes me feel alot better. Not to be a downer after a well needed win, but did anyone notice TB in a funk? Alot of moping on the bench with his head down. Where's that pumped up leader we're used to seeing? Is it injury, lack of confidence? This team needs to rally around each other. Theres something missing. Come on, This is TB and BB for X'st's Sakes. Anyway,Again I'm very happy for the win . Go Pats

We stole that one, absolutely stole it. The Jets dominated the yards most of the game and we were honestly lucky to even had a shot in the end. I'll take it though.

That said, it feels great to win one of those close ones and get the monkey off our back. Gotta chalk that up to the law of averages, 3 games we could've one we had lost, some you can argue we probably should have won, but now we got to steal one.

The good : Pats win. Brady, Welker, kickers. Mcknight catching punts on his own 5 yard line.

The Bad : Brandon LLoyd, Shane Vereen (still not sure if he can play), Special team coverage. Having wrong runnning back in game for short yardage. Underuse of Ridley.

The Ugly : Pass Rush : The only way Sanchez had strong afternoon is he had a clean pocket with open passing lanes all day. It seems Pats are very vanilla in getting to the QB. One on one across the board. Sanchez occassionally had to step up and was able to throw off his front foot. Pass rush problem goes on year after year, game after game. Strong 4th quarter pass rush and 4th quarter running game still seals the deal. If and when we get a pass rush then we can properly evaluate the secondary. Sacks are nice but consistent pressure is great.

How on earth do you have Shane Vereen in the bad? the guy had our highesr YPA and was a big threat in the passing game especially on those wheel routes which opened Hernandez up 2-3 times.

We got Vereen for his speed and recieving skills out of the backfield and he has been great at it.

Woodhead had another good game making bik plays when we needed it. We do need to work on those delayed draws it seems to get max 4 min 1 yard every time.

How do you expect to be taken seriously when you list Vereen as a BAD? Did you even watch the game? Vereen had 8 rushes for 49 yards (6.1YPR). He also had 1 catch for 10 yards. Considering how infrequently he was used, that's a pretty good showing.

I was going to agree with you about the "underuse" of Ridley until I realized that he had 17 rushes for 65 yards. I do agree with you about not using him in the short yardage situations. But, that also telegraphs what the Pats are going to do. Having Vereen out there might have been a better option than Woodhead.

It was Kerley catching the punts on the 5 yard line, not McKnight. And the PUNT coverage was pretty damn good. Why do you think that Kerley was having to fair catch those balls there while 2 of the 3 returns totaled 8 yards.

Now, the kick coverage wasn't nearly as good. I'll give you that.

I agree with you Mack......Brady almost lost the game...and made SEVERAL overthrows/underthrows throughout this game.....and seems off his game quite a bit Imho......He did get the team in place to make the kick there though and we got away luckily with a win. But, I never saw this game as being this big a struggle for this team...especially at HOME......and with Sancheeze's record as of recent.....oh well..on to next game.....

In the 4th quarter when our D can cause a turnover, we're ok. But if they can't cause a turnover they usually let up a TD.

Also, when we blitzed it seemed to work. Maybe we should try that a bit more often.

You are right.....feel great that this team WON the game.....but have these queasy feelings that this team has some SIGNIFICANT weaknesses that are going to be a PROBLEM going forward. In reality, the secondary weakness and LACK of pass rush have been a CONSISTENT problem/weakness for quite some time now. Chandler Jones, some Love, Cunningham occasionally, Wilfork is a god..........but overall.....our rush continues to be suspicious at best......

It was ugly as sin but I'll take it.:rocker:

Was really surprised McCourty was going to be the returner right after the last time, which he coughed up the ball...

Usually, BillB puts you in the dog-house after a cough-up...

Oh crap, not the body language debate again. According to Reiss Brady was pretty hot on the sidelines with his teamates out of the gate. And with good reason. Just because the broadcast only shows him sitting on the bench in deep thought doesn't mean he's moping. He's getting himself right after tearing into his teamates. I just wish he'd tear into his OC...

The secondary is the atrocious, everyone knows it. But I'm afraid we can't do a whole lot of things personnel wise. We have what we have, and we need to coach coach coach guys like Dowling, Dennard, or Wilson. Arrington and Chung are beyond repair. Belichick needs to spend a hell of a lot of time with this unit.

I actually have to agree, I've defended Vereen alot but I just wasn't all that impressed with him. He took what the defense gave him I guess but I feel like he's a considerable drop off from Ridley, despite the #'s. Regardless I was happy to see him finally getting touches, not ready to give up on him. Bolden looked pretty average too in his first couple games.

It was OPI. The replay showed it plainly. Lllllloyd knows better than to extend his arm like that.

No, the replay didn't show it. Unlike the OPI on HILL that went uncalled. But thanks for your opinion. I'll put it in the round file with all the others you've made.

A terrible, terrible "win". The Patriots are a wild card team at best. Gonna be a long season

really who wins the division?

Can't argue with you Scott......Houston is setting the bar....everyone else is chasing them....and the better coaching/toughness is in the NFC. Don't see Pats at their present "state" competing this year unfortuneatly. However, because the AFC is so weak (apparently) this year.....anything can happen...

What difference does it make? If these are the hairs that need to be split that decide the outcome of a game at home against the 2012 jets, then you have major problems.

The 2012 pats are the most poorly coached team in the BB era

When they showed the replay, you could see Lloyd push off pretty hard. It was quickly done and easy to miss. I am surprised they saw it but it did look like OPI to me. All around I thought Triplette and crew called a pretty good game today -well, except maybe not enough holding called on the jets oline. They had Wilfork in a choke hold quite often.
