The good : Pats win. Brady, Welker, kickers. Mcknight catching punts on his own 5 yard line.

The Bad : Brandon LLoyd, Shane Vereen (still not sure if he can play), Special team coverage. Having wrong runnning back in game for short yardage. Underuse of Ridley.

The Ugly : Pass Rush : The only way Sanchez had strong afternoon is he had a clean pocket with open passing lanes all day. It seems Pats are very vanilla in getting to the QB. One on one across the board. Sanchez occassionally had to step up and was able to throw off his front foot. Pass rush problem goes on year after year, game after game. Strong 4th quarter pass rush and 4th quarter running game still seals the deal. If and when we get a pass rush then we can properly evaluate the secondary. Sacks are nice but consistent pressure is great.

Hopefully they put in the kind of performance they did the last time they came to London, they steam-rollered the Bucs that day.

Aside from a few bumps in the road (early timeout for no reason?) the coaching staff was fine. At one point in the game there was a 50/50 run to pass ratio. The execution sucked balls, particularly on defense.

What's killing them is Josh's predication for personnel packages and substitutions. And his determination to play to his vision...as opposed to his teams strengths. Leads to inconsistent execution and inability to get in rhythm. It's like an organized chinese fire drill, and it seems to impact us adversely more often than it does opposing D. One of the JETS TD's today btw, Bill was just explaining how they need to coach better, we had 10 men on the field. Bill stepped in midway through the third and whatever he said or did they played worse down the stretch...

Where are the ppl who had started threads that Brady is not clutch blah blah blah........kiss my a^^

I doubt if anyone said he is still not clutch but he s not as great as he used to be..He could carry a bad defensive team but now he needs some help..

Every play is designed to succeed so you can use the "execution sucked" logic on every failed play if you want to.

For one the gameplan is nothing if Ridley can't get more than three yards on a carry, Brady is missing open receivers, and the OL is having trouble pass protecting. For another, what would you, as an OC, have done differently today?

Hmmm .. thought Vereen looked pretty good. Even got in some nice inside running plays.

Pretty amazing to watch Brady work on that last drive of regulation when they had no momentum and although it would not have been an easy catch, Lloyd could have won it with that perfect throw.
Nice job Ghost! you needed those.

you mean the one that hit him between the 8 & 5 lol.

The screens were poorly timed.

Lloyd isn't a mess. He is his normal self. Feast or famine with him.

It was a good play that knocked the ball loose. Let's not act like McCourty had the ball out wide and flailing or something.

On the replay, It was a routine tackle, not a particularly good play but **** happens, especially to mccourty. Kid has terrible bad luck.

Get a clue!!!
Brady and McCourty are sending thank you bouquets to Stephen Hill.
Brady was brutal on that drive with 4 minutes left. Looked like a college freshman with that forced throw to Gronk.
Just brutal. Got booed and deserved it.
And McCourty with that fumble. Ugh!!!!!
But the most brutal play of all was that drop by Stephen Hill.
Cost the Jets this game.
I cannot believe the Patriots struggled to win this game.
The only upside that I see is Gostkowski making those kicks.
Other than that this was a lousy game for the Patriots. Fortunately they have the Lambs before their bye. This team has an awful lot of work to do during their time off.
BTW Mark Sanchez is a borderline NFL QB. That guy has regressed over the past couple of years. Ugly!!!!

These mediocre QBs torching the defense is getting out of hand.

Bill is starting to look like a joke now.

Brandon Lloyd...8 targets, 1 catch. 2 drops and a brutal OPI. Not good today.

Come off it. The OPI was pure BS. Stephen Hill did worse than that on several of his catches.

The 2 drops hurt, yes. But, the 8 targets is misleading. Especially when 2 of them were Brady throwing the ball away.

Josh likes the downfield game....Unfortunately this team may have slowest pass catchers in the NFL

A terrible, terrible "win". The Patriots are a wild card team at best. Gonna be a long season

Got to listen to entire game on XM here in Utah. Way they were talking the lloyd penalty was BS. Not nearly as bad as no call on Hill.

Need luck in NFL and a big play. They had both today

Great post you expressed my thoughts better than i could have..

Was anyone else screaming for McCourty to take a knee?

Situation, Jets just scored the game tying field goal and are about to kick off with 2:06 left on the clock. THe Pats have three time outs.

I was telling the people I was watching the game with that I REALLY hoped the Patriots did not return the ball. Here was my logic.....

1.) With the exception of the TD, the Pats were STRUGGLING to get returns back to the 20.
2.) The fact that there were six (and only six) seconds prior to the two minute warning was VERY significant. If you take a knee, clock doesn't start and the offense can run a play BEFORE the two minute warning. knowing hte clock will stop anyway, the Pats could have even tried a surprise 'draw' on their first play.

Sure enough, McCourty returns the kick and gets hit somewhere between the 10 and 15 yards line (confirming my assessment that it was a teribble move, WASTING CLOCK AND LOSING FIELD POSITION). BUT then it turned nightmarish, with him losing a fumble (and likely) the game to the Jets. I wanted to scream. I'll be honest, when I was yelling for 'no return' the thought of a fumble didn't really cross my mind, but you can imagine how upset I was when it happened.

Fortunately, the Pats were able to pull out a heart pounding victory, but we DODGED a bullet of this fumble.

Vereen rushed for 49 yards on 8 carries. That means he was going at 6.1 yards per carry. I'd be interested to hear your explanation for that and making a statement about being unsure if he can play.
