What was all the dancing in the backfield for when he took the ball? Everyone knows you attack even the slightest hole in the line and hope to break a big one! So what if the hole closes when you get to the line...At least you're not creating a negative play...Besides that, it was a great game and "as much as I hate to say it," the best team won.

Maroney has been doing that alot the last part of the season> This off season he needs to do a lot of work or he will not be our" back of the future".

he hasnt been the same since the injury

Every time he touched the ball, the play was already blown up in the backfield. It isn't all his fault. Still, only 5 carries in the second half is mind-numbingly stupid.

The run blocking in the 2nd half was non-existant.

Last April it was inconcievable that our best draft pick would turn out to be a kicker drafted in the 4th round.

THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT OUR RUN PLAYS TO MARONEY THAT TIPS OFF THE DEFENSE

He is consistently tackled behind the line by cornerbacks and safeties. This is what happens when a defense knows before the snap that a run is coming.

Lighten up on Maroney. He is the back the Colts REALLY wanted and between you me and the fencepost I would take him over Addai....right now.

Maroney over Addai??
Based on this season, I think Addai is the more complete player. The colts trhrough to him down field which I don't see the Pats doing.
I posted last week that Maroney is never run outside via sweeps and again last night it didn't happen. I remember one good run by Moroney, when he took it outside and used his speed. I don't know why they don'et take advantage of it more.

IMO, he has seemed tentative since his rib injury. It wouldn't surprise me to learn he was playing on guts alone the last few weeks.

I would still take Maroney over Addai. I think if they swapped teams we'd be horrified. With the field turf, a good offseason and, presumably, an upgraded WR corps, Maroney should look more like the first half of the season Maroney next year.

What I wanna know is why they insist on trying to show Maroney up the middle over and over again, when it fails time after time.

Maroney clearly is a good OUTSIDE runner. Why not split him out wide and throw him screen passes? Or run some reverses? Or run outside?

I just don't get the boneheaded play calling with Maroney. They should play to his strengths, not his weakness.

On this I totally agree. Not to mention we used him less and less over the course of the season in these situations.

I still don't know why we didn't use him in more screens

He did seem to have good hands earlier on in the season and could break them for some good gains. That aspect disappeared as the season progressed.

Same here -- I think there's more upside with Maroney. With the Colts O-line and passiong game, they could get good production out of any halfway decent guy, like the Broncos seem to. I also think BB inherited an anti-rookie bias from Parcells.

something I noticed is that Faulk resorted back is old self dropping the ball on open catches.

hmmm what am I missing?

Not sure. I just think that Maroney 'changed' after the Cincy game. He became a more timid runner long before he got hurt. The rookie wall hit him early.

And completely healed rib cartilage.
