Random thought from a pure speculation standpoint: The Giants have had a run of injuries along the defensive line and I had the thought that perhaps they might be a trade partner for the Patriots if they were seeking help. Maybe Tom Coughlin dipping into his old BC background and seeing if a change of scenery might bring out the best in Ron Brace? At times in training camp, Brace has looked very good, but there simply might not be room for him on the Patriots' roster.

The victim of the prank (or whatever it was) also has addressed the situation, presumably choosing his words carefully because he’s under contract for several more years. “Yeah, um, well, I mean, I just don’t get it. I don’t understand the rules,” Amukamara told Garafolo. “I mean, I’m not a rookie anymore, so I don’t know why I’m getting thrown in the tub. I know it’s all love.”

If that’s love, we’d hate to see, you know, hate.

Apparently, Amukamara has been a regular target for hazing or harassment or whatever the appropriate word is. He said he landed in the cold tub eight times last year, and he had his shirt and tie cut. Garafolo writes that players have been trying to get Amukamara to “develop an edge.”

As to the latest incident, Amukamara is confused as to the reason for the dunking. “I don’t think I did [anything to provoke it],” Amukamara said. “I don’t think I did. Ask them.”

There are a lot of conflicting opinions here, at least for me. I get rookie hazing...it makes sense to try and deflate a new guy's head a bit. But JPP repeatedly doing that to someone (not even a rookie anymore) who he is bigger/stronger than is bullying, pure and simple. I don't care if "trying to toughen him up" is the 'reason' for doing this, it's just plain *****ty. If Prince snaps and goes Beecher (Oz reference for those that haven't seen it) on JPP one day I will applaud him.

People these days are too quick to just post something somewhere on the internet with out thinking of the consequences. What did the punter gain from posting this? To humiliate Prince more? I got news for you, punter guy...the Giants opposing QB's are licking their chops now seeing how Prince got punked out like that and did nothing about it. It's a shame Brady hadn't heard about this before the Super Bowl, whoever Prince was covering would have broken SB records.

Goodell just letting this go is complete crap. He suspended Saints players for doing less to opponents and with less evidence, yet he calls this a "club matter". I'm not saying Goodell favors the Giants, it's just that his suspension/fine process is MADDENING. Everything seems like decisions he makes based on how his day is going so far. "My bagel was stale...fine the Patriots! Man, that was a good slice of pizza I had for lunch...Braylon Edwards DUI is no big deal." I can't freakin figure this guy out.

I really don't like Jp2's actions....
However these comments by the Prince do read to me that he's a bit of a weenie and probably DOES need to develop an edge to succeed in the NFL. Jp2 is a bully. I kinda liked the guy, even with a French name before this.

Apparently, this has happened before, many times. [Amukamara] estimated eight times last year, and he also had his clothes cut up. Amukamara is not a rookie anymore, and this isn’t some sort of welcome-to-the-NFL deal (though even those sorts of tie-you-to-the-goalpost pranks should have gone out with leather helmets). This is a second-year player, a contributor, and the big kids are picking on him. It’s recess, and the Giants CB is the weaker kid getting his pants pulled down for everyone to laugh at.

It’s also sad. You can dress it up how you want, but that’s what it is. Maybe Amukamara did something to deserve it. Maybe he hasn’t shown the respect necessary to be in an NFL locker room (whatever that means). Maybe he hasn’t learned to be a pro. Maybe he mouths off to the veterans. Maybe it’s a Full Metal Jacket-type thing, where he’s hurt the unit. But this isn’t a life-and-death situation. And whatever he hasn’t learned, I don’t know that he’ll learn it by his eighth tumble in a bucket of ice.

What is the lesson they are trying to teach him? And is this the way to do it?

“It’s you vs. eight and no one’s helping you.” What part of team-building is that? How does humiliating a player in front of a nation — and uploading the video just to be sure we all see it — make the Giants a better team? How does it make them closer? How does it make Amukamara a better teammate or person? How is it any different from what doing something that your mom would’ve grounded you for?

It’s hazing, and it’s very far from being right. It’s bullying, just using a different word.

I would not be a fan of any Pats big guy who year after year picked on a far smaller player embarrassing him in front of the team. I'd like to think that coaches and vet leaders here keep horseplay in bounds. This repeated dunking of The Prince is out of bounds.

I agree if it's true. Hopefully Coughlin will take care of it and I'd be surprised if he didn't know about happening repeatedly.

It happens to rookies, though. Not second year players. I feel bad for Amukamara. Maybe he should stand up to JPP and punch him in the mouth. With that said, he should be expecting a beat-down afterward, but at least JPP would probably think twice before he threw him into the tub again...

Coughlin is upset but moreso about not keeping it in house. He apparently thought he made it clear to them before camp that he didn't want their business or their antics featured on social media. The part he hasn't seemed to grasp yet is the negative message being sent by members of a league doing PSA's about bullying and harassment.
