Trade Wes now?

Since you brought up NEM, I should point out that he's now trolling Bleacher Report, where he says that Kyle Arrington is the weak link in the secondary.

but what does he think about the OC? :bricks:

ummmmmm.....let me think......NO

Don't be so hasty. If the FO could get 3 or more 1st round picks for Welker then maybe they should consider it. And if it's only 3 1sts then maybe we can get another TE or two thrown in.

Even if considering that right now is the moment we could get the most for him i'd still not go through with that deal. We are looking so good for a SB run and all i really need is just 1 more.

The OP's premise was a bit on the outlandish side IMO so i'll take it in a different direction which I'm sure has been discussed before in other threads.

If a team offered 3 1st rd picks or Megatron for WW then I would assume that they would consider it.

If a team offered a 2nd rd pick, they would not.

In all sincerity, if they did receive a king's randsom for WW, they'd have AH take over the slot, Lloyd and/or Branch/Donte play the outside and one of those guys would be the #4 and Slater, Edelman and/or whomever else would be #5 & #6 if they decide to keep that many.

The problem is that w/o WW, they are still a very good offense, just not as potentially transcendent.

Don't forget about 06. I'm not saying trade Wes, but if they did, I'd still be confident about a SB run.

Two points

-Hair plugs on the locker room floor......gross

-What ever it takes to keep Stallworth...maybe a Brady/Wes package

Does a receiver keep the Colts from scoring 32 2nd 1/2 points?

Exactly. Our 2012 defense is better than that 06 defense. We can win this year with average wrs, as they almost did it back it 06. I would also say that without WW, 2012 wr corp is still much better than 06. IMHO

If we were in a point were Brady just got injured and out for career. Then I would say that we should trade Wes for a first round pick if possible. But right now we are not in a state of rebuilding. We are in a state of winning the super bowl within the next couple of years. And in that aspect I think that it is better to keep Wes than trying to trade him and hope that we suceed with the draft. Loosing Wes would severly lessen our chances of wining a super bowl.

No but the lack of receivers kept us from scoring more.

27 offensive points (pick 6 by Asante to make it 34) is enough to win a playoff game and should be expected to be enough by a defense that finished allowing 14ppg during the regular season. Colts or no Colts.

The lack of a 2nd 1/2 running game did as well.

Not sure about that. Go back and look at that 06 defense. They were very good. Just didn't play well when they really needed to.

Welker is a VERY valuable member of the offense. Since this Colt offense has a non-existent running game Wes is the short yardage option.
Time to say bye bye to Branch. Gaffney is a huge upgrade.

Well it would take a first at least and that would be if they didn't think a deal would ever get done with Welker.

Before we kill the poster too much remember R Seymour. Who thought he'd get traded?

They were already getting old and slow, but yes, they still couldve played a better game than they did.

Wes is more highly motivated this year than ever before (if that's even possible, since he's a max effort individual) to prove that he is worth what his camp is asking for. This is the year to enjoy all that is great about Welker, as I think he's determined to make this year his best year ever. Now would be the time to absolutely not trade him, unless BB gets an offer he could just not refuse. Sit back and enjoy the ride.......

Apples and oranges. You're comparing a former #6 pick at DE whom they had given a top tier extension to who wasn't producing consistently at that level heading into a contract season with a former UDFA they traded late 2nd rounder for and signed to a 5 year deal at about a third of what the top players at his position were making who led the league in catches over the entire term of his contract. Not only were they not going to extend Seymour, they weren't going to tag him either other than as trade bait, whether some here could see that at the time or not. And that 1st they traded him for was discounted since it was not for the upcoming draft, it was for the draft a year later and more than 18 months away. Ergo it was the value of an upcoming 2nd (which was their other option).

The most you would expect for Welker as camp opens at age 31 and under a franchise tag, from a team who would also have to be willing to give him at least a 3 year deal with $20M+ guaranteed, would be a late or conditional second or even third rounder which wouldn't help you this year and might not even impact you next, if ever.

i see no reason to trade Welker, Brandon Lloyd only has one 1000 yead rec season in he's 10 year career Branch has never had one and the rest of the WR's are JAG's and everyone on this bord was saying WR was a weakness last year so why trade the best one on the team
