It's about right but we don't know the comp picks yet. Your list is about what people expect though.

When did we get an extra 4th? Or is that a guess at a comp pick?

People are guessing a 4th for Givens - worst case a 5th. Thankfully the secret formula is heavily wighted towards contract and not production for the new team.

Or maybe not thankfully. Shouldn't the most clutch kicker and sure HOF kicker be worth a 3rd?

Secret formula We'll ask after Super Bowl. We have a poster with answers. A fourth seems OK to plan for plus three sevenths. We could get more.

I just hope the NFL competition committee, Bill Polian et al, does not have a say in how the picks are allocated.

For assigned picks we have

Round Pick Overall
1 24 New England (Seattle)
1 28 New England
2 28 (60) New England
3 27 (91) New England
4 28 (123) New England
6 28 186 New England
7 5 195 New England (Arizona)
7 28 218 New England

We traded our fifth rounder for Gabriel.
We traded Branch for Seattle's #1 pick
We traded Bradon Gorin to Arizona for a 7th rd pick.
We traded Ross Tucker to Cleveland for an undisclosed draft pick, but since he didn't make the Browns, I doubt that we will even get a pick.

The picks after the third round will go up in numbers as the compensation picks are handed out. Expect the Pats to recieve at least three compensatory picks. For the loss of:
WR Andre Davis (Buffalo); TE Christian Fauria (Washington); WR David Givens (Tennessee); LB Matt Chatham (NY Jets); PK Adam Vinateri (indianapolis); WR Tim Dwight (NY Jets); OT Tom Ashworth (Seattle); DB Michael Stone (Houston)

Versus the signing of Reche.

Tha maximum any team can recieve is four comp picks.

does the signing of neal factor into this>?

FYI-Don't forget the Patriots tampering grievance against Mangini and the Jets is still alive.

The League has not yet ruled on this, which is very unusual.

They normally reject these,out-of-hand,but,this one is still viable.

No. The "equation", so to speak, is own FAs lost - other teams' FAs signed. Re-signing your own players has no effect whatsoever.

More accurately, though, the "secret equation" is based largely--but not entirely--on average annual $ values for contracts. Also, the rule is that FAs generally cancel out other FAs of similar salaries. So, roughly speaking, Reche Caldwell's contract cancels out Tim Dwight's.

Under the circumstances, I guess the Pats will get 3-4 comp picks based on the 3-4 highest-valued contracts signed by Givens et al.

AFAIK, though, even if the Pats' grievance was ultimately upheld, they would not receive a pick from the JEST; all that would happen is that the JEST would lose one or more picks.
