Does the lack of draft picks bother you?

What do you think?

Have the Patriots backed themselves into a competitive disadvantage through the current complete lack of 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks?

Do they need to trade back-up players and future picks to target some of the players on their wishlist? Should they convert the two Seconds into a number of 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks?

Does their recent hit rate in the second round concern you if they end here?

It doesn't bother me at all. Their 3rd round success rate has been atrocious. They've had some misses in the 2nd round but they've also gotten Gronk, Spikes, Chung, Vollmer so I have no worries. I'm hoping they stay where they are.

No need to trade down anyway given the apparent lack of available roster spots. They took care of the depth via FA.

It does not bother me, but I can't vote in the poll. Remember pick #199 in the 2000 draft? That was not worthless, was it?

If someone gave you a choice of having 2 firsts and 2 seconds, or having 1 pick in all 7 rounds, which would you choose?

Personally, I'd take the first option.

Not really, I think that some of the best value in this draft is in the sencond round. Unless, the ones they are targeting get picked up before 48, I don't see them moving back just to pick up extras. I almost see the the opportunity to package the 48 and 62, move up to get another impact player, at 35, 6, or 7and then maybe one or two late picks in the4th, 5th, or 6th in the deal. 48 and 62 are valued at 704. 35th is valued at 550, so there's room to get one or two later picks in the deal and we get another high priority player.

Saturday's become more boring though.

options too extreme. With the way the roster is set up and the way things worked out yesterday I doubt I will be too upset with the lack of later round picks.

I wish there was a third option of "a little". I'd like to have the later picks, every once in a while they turn into gems. Mesko, Edelman, Slater, Cassell, Sanders, Koppen, Givens, Gostkowski, and Aaron Hernandez are all 4th round or lower picks. Is it the end of the world? No. would it be nice to have 'em? Ya.

I voted, but I don't agree with the worthless part.

I don't have problem with it. I think the Pats have great depth on the roster and what is needed is a few impact players. Unless you are lucky, those tend to come in the earlier rounds.

Since they aren't going to use both picks anyway, no.

I'm just glad BB finally threw his sleeves in'da ring and traded up! D.High & CJ. Was very UN'belichickian but those moves solidified our D needs and I believe warranted at this time.

We signed a ton of FA to cover this issue... the Pats traded up for quality, deal with it.

Also, take heart that we never traded a future pick... we still have a full set of picks in 2013... so relax!

No it doesn't bother me. We added some very good depth during FA and if we can add just 4 very good impact players through the draft I'm fine with it. :rocker:

Wouldn't mind Janoris Jenkins in 2nd round. BB can still make trades if need be so I'm good where we stand. Kraft/BB not sleepin on this it's been a while since we got a new T-shirt. GO FOR IT!

I just wanted to revisit this based upon the current roster:

QB - Brady/Hoyer/Mallett
HB - Ridley/Vereen/Woodhead
FB - Fiammetta/Kattani
TE - Gronkowski/Hernandez/Fells
WR - Welker/Lloyd/Branch/Stallworth/Underwood/Edelman/Gonzalez/Johnson/Davis
OL - Solder/Vollmer/Cannon/Mankins/Koppen/Connolly/Wendell/Thomas/McDonald/Kopa/Hix/Gallery

I don't see much room on the offense for low round players. I certainly don't think it's as crowded on the defensive side of the ball but, even there, there were a lot of FA signings (and the 2 picks from last night) to bolster that group, and they've got a pretty full roster already (although the move to 90 players does mean there are more spaces to fill).

As a result, even if I were generally inclined to prefer having the lower round picks over the higher picks, I'd consider this year an exception. Instead of looking to trade down, I'd hope the Patriots were looking at a few top UDFAs to add to the mix.

Didn't we have something like 16 players make this team from the last two years drafts... there are not a lot of job openings.
