Which of the following was best rivalry involving a Boston team involved with a team in a conference final?

Gotta go with Sox/Yanks. 1999. 2003. 2004.

Besides our AFC East rivals, the Steelers get me the most pumped and jacked

It is close but the NFL playoffs are one and out. The games have much more buildup.

Agreed. Nothing beats those Red Sox-Yankee rivalries.

Besides, The Patriots have intense rivals with ALL the other teams.

If you're including baseball, you might as well include soccer and lawn darts.

Sox/Yankees easily. I nearly broke the TV when Aaron Boone scored the home run to win it in '03.

'04 was by far the sweetest damn thing ever

Still, the history behind Sox/Yankees made those games intense.

Sox-Yanks ina runaway. Tell me one Red Sox/Pats fan who hates any team more than the Yankees and I'll show you a purple horse. I hate the Colts, dislike the Steelers. But words, emotions, etc. cannot come CLOSE to how much I hate that piece of ******* **** team in New York. Steinbrenner can die and I'd laugh, all those plays could get hurt and not be able to play for life and I'd laugh. I ******* hate them.

I hate the Colts, hate the Yankees... but nothing comes close to my hatred for the Habs.

Well I wouldn't laugh at someone's death, but yes I hate the Yankees more than anything ever created by man.. including "Head On" commercials,

I think Polian is going to die if the Pats win on Sunday. He will probably jump off Indy's version of the Zakim Bridge

the habs rivalry is definatly the most violent (hockey fans should know what im talkin about)....id have to say the redsox/ yankees one is the most epic though.
i mean both teams spend an absolutely ridiculous amount of money just to beat eachother every year.
the Colts/ Pats one will be the best once peyton beats us and wins a SB....probly never.
I cant warrant the pats/colts a rivalry because its just us kickin their asses every year in the playoffs. GO PATS KICK THE COLTS ASS THIS WEEK!!

I wasn't alive for Too Many Men on the Ice, but the way my father talks about it, it was far more heartbreaking than Game 6.

Sox/Yanks. Game 7 in '03 is one of the greatest baseball games ever (and thank God they won in '04 because it allows me to appreciate the game). as for '04 there's a lopsided drubbing in Game 3 followed by the steal, Ortiz's heroics, and the greatest comeback ever.

I'm smiling thinking about Zimmer hitting the ground.

of course, i can't speak to the old Celtics/Bruins rivalries and baseball is my first love. Pats/Colts and Pats/Steelers still have time to grow. They'd require quantity to overtake the quality of '03-'04 sox/yanks.

Is it even a question? ANYONE who lives in Boston area (regardless of who your a fan of) know its Redsox Yankees.

Just remember, when the Pats won there first Super Bowl and they had the parade in Boston all the fans were cheering "YANKEES SUCK! YANKEES SUCK!" they weren't chanting "COLTS SUCK" or "PISTONS SUCK" its "YANKEES SUCK!" plain and simple, Boston Fans are obsessed with the Yankees head and shoulders above any other franchise in any sport.

It took me until the 14th comment to figure out this was a three and a half year old thread.

two of the greatest series Ive seen in any sport. bruins vs canadiens 78 and 79 the don cherry years. i didn't like the results but man those series were absolutely unforgettable. the sixers vs celtics was a very close second in 1981.
