re: DE: Arkansas' Jake Bequette > UNC's Quinton Coples
Are you this much of a douchebag in real life? You must be very well liked by your colleagues.
You aren't a collegue. You're some dumb poster on a message board who posts more asinine garbage than comes out of Congress on any given day. This thread is just more proof of that. The issue with Coples has been his consistency of play.
Belichicks 1st rd DE selections have both weighed over 300lbs. Coples is only 284 and looks maxed out at that weight. He could add fat but he would lose speed and endurance.
Who said anything about previous 1st round selections? Who said anything about the Pats drafting Coples in the 1st round? OH.. That's right. No one in this thread. As for Coples, no he doesn't look like he's maxxed out at that weight. Just goes to show how much you don't know.
He is around Mario Williams weight, and Mario played OLB this year at a high level before getting injured.
Mario Williams was 295lbs. Not 275. Williams was playing OLB because of how athletic he is. Bequette isn't nearly the athletic freak that Williams is and it's a joke for you to even try to compare the two.
Bequette is closer to Willie McGinest/Adalius Thomas weight..... which is BB's ideal weight for OLB considering how much he liked Willie and how hard he pursued Adalius in Free Agency.
Actually, 275 isn't the ideal weight for OLB on the Pats. It's about 265. BB liked Willie Mc so much that he went out and got Colvin to replace Willie. The only reason it didn't happen was because of Colvin's fluke injury. Don't believe me? The information is out there.
BTW, nothing you mentioned about Bequette's weight and your comparison to Willie Mc did ANYTHING to go against what I said in that Bequette was more of an OLB in the Pats system..
As for Thomas, his weight was, more than likely, a non factor. What made Adalius such a target was his production on the field and his willingness to play a variety of different roles. A willingness he lost during his tenure with the Pats.
But keep on posting things that support what others are saying and detracting from your original post.. It's quite amusing..
