I completely understand Light who played well, and I dont mind Gronk but I dont know if I would be able to party after allowing a crucial pick right in my face.

Why not ??? Weren't we all at some party or other watching the game ? And all we did was just watch the game, not play for 60 minutes.

It was a great game and it was a 50:50 coin toss in the 4th on who would win. One play from Welker and we are all celebrating after the game...

I think this is not celebration, but just trying to get your mind off a loss that should have been a win.

I don't blame Welker or anyone for this loss. We just came up a little short and didn't get the breaks the Giants got.. Eli is lucky... TWICE !! (esp for the stripped balls that bounced back to the Giants).. The throw to Manningham was, however, not lucky .. he is a good QB and made a great play there.

We, however, had to agonizingly watch the drops from Welker, Branch and Hernandez.. (Number 50 had a fantastic game but that offside killed us).

In the end, the Giants caught more breaks than us and they made the one critical play that we didn't. That's all it came down to, in the end - JUST ONE PLAY !!

I feel terrible after the loss but I don't blame the team, who fought hard all season to get here and did lay everything out on the field. There were a lot of things which could have been done differently, especially the 1st play (which resulted in a safety). But these are all hypotheticals.

Anyway... as BB says .. it is what it is.. Move on and fight for another one. That's all you can do.. fight again and again until you win the next trophy.

I completely concur on your point about the "business" side of this and that these guys still cash big checks win or lose and still get good off season gigs; most of them are probably already booked up through training camp with Golf Tournaments and corporate events of all stripes for good cash.

But I think you're wrong to assume that going out and partying means that they aren't seriously affected by the loss and feeling pretty bad about it.

Single guys having a few adult beverages and enjoying relatively anonymous female, ahem, companionship and doing so along with a few of their buddies who are pretty much the only ones who really "get" what they're going through all seems like part of a pretty healthy grieving process to me.

I get what you are saying,but the bottom line is this...the fans of the losing team take it a million times harder than athletes IMO.

If you ask me what is more likely to happen...a player going out to party after the loss or a fan whose team has been defeated?,its going to be the player at the club almost every time,although I did in fact head out to the casino before the confetti even had a chance to fly because I didn't want to sit home and fly through the channels and witness that crap.

I don't really think this is a big deal.....but I don't remember Bruschi, Rodney, ect.... partying after 2007. Just saying........................

While those specific players were a bit older and might not have joined any festivities, remember: The smart phone wasn't nearly as ubiquitous then as it is today. All it takes is one weasel abusing the privilege of being there to whip out an iphone and send an email, and scenes that used to be private are now public.

How can a fan take it harder than the players?That is crazy.
They actually play the game. They compete. Fans watch.
You cannot have ever played a competitive sport if you can equate the feeling of competing and losing to the feeling of the team you want to win losing a game you have absolutely nothing to do with, much less saying an observer cares more than a competitor.
This has to be one of the most ill-informed opinions ever posted on this board.

Some of you people have no grip on reality. Our players are real people with feelings and emotions. They'd just lost the biggest game of the season, they have every right to drown their sorrows. Nothing wrong with it at all. Some of you must never leave your parents basement and step out into the real world.

This gets filed in my "Who gives a sh#$" category. Give these guys a break. They are people, despite whatever we might want to make them. They have been under a huge amount of stress, and finally have a chance to let off a little steam.

While it's so easy to talk about the pressure they felt during the undefeated season, no one talks about the pressure these guys put on themselves to win it for MHK. I would imagine as they got closer that this weight may have been even greater than it was in 2008.

Anyone who has a problem with this is most likely jealous of the money/fame/great life/whatever these guys have. Get past it. The Patriots are going to get on with their lives, as should we.
