Mallet working hard

Bill is a good coach, but it seems the game might have passed him by. I'd take 5 or 6 coaches over him.

Name those that are available and better than Bill..

Those better than BB:

-Harbaugh brothers
-Mike Mcarthy
-Sean Payton
-Coughlin
-Tomlin

None of which are available... and one year for Harbaugh does not make him a "great" coach.. Also not all that confident that Tomlin, Sean Payton, the other Harbaugh... none of those coaches coached yesterday.

Yesterday Coughlin was a better coach.. the reality is that when history is written, BB will be very close to the top..

That's an intelligent comment. Kevin O'Connell was a bad quarterback in the freaking WAC, where defense is entirely optional. Ryan Mallett was a great quarterback in the SEC. Mallett was the Pats No. 1 rated QB in the entire draft. Let me assure you that the same was not true of Mr. O'Connell. We're talking about completely different tiers of talent here. Mallett can legitimately push Brady if he continues to improve.

That was more directed to the "deal Brady" post, and the fact I find the timing of this article suspect given the fact Brady and the Pats lost yesterday.

I have nothing against Mallet and was glad to see the Pats add him to the roster. He is, however, a mere possibility as a successor given his lack of NFL snaps (WAC and SEC are not NFL with NFL defenses), so I will not give him more than that right now. He is #3 on the depth chart, regardless of his college pedigree, but I hope he has a future with the Pats.

nobody cares what 'you will give him'

oh, btw.....he is #2 since hoyer is a free agent

Oh, btw...he isn't since Hoyer isn't a free agent, he's a RFA and the team has until mid March to tender him which they almost certainly will.

It's good to see a year of development from him. Obviously should anything happen to Brady injury wise, as we saw the Colts deal with this season you have to appreciate the fact the coaching staff does a good job developing backups. I just hope they spend the offseason exploring the topic of finding someone for them to throw to other than Gronk, Welker, and Hernandez. It's obvious that Branch is at the end, and Chad wasn't ready. Unfortunately they could have used one more guy last night.

So much for the kind explanation for my earlier post.

So much for the kind explanation of my previous post. You felt the need to respond to my opinion. I didn't ask for your specific response, nor have I felt the need to ask for your opinions over the past few years despite your willingness to offer the same frequently. Lose the attitude because it isn't particularly intimidating.

And as Mo explained, you are wrong as to the second point. A right of first refusal is still a claim by the Patriots. Hoyer is gone if the Pats choose not to match a competing offer. I'm sure I don't have to explain that concept to you

I want to see Mallet suceed (again, I took exception to the timing of the article as shots are being fired at Brady right now as to whether he is done), and agree the Pats need to add some fire to receivers in terms of #1 and #3 spots. I hope Ochocinco finds a groove with an offseason to see if he can really fit in with the receiver corps.

Just like objects in the mirror, the future is closer than it appears.

I see Mallett going to Cleveland for their 1st in 2013. Somebody jumps ahead of them and snags RG3. Mallett is much better than any of the other qb's in this draft. They draft their wr's, rb and te this year with their extra 1st. Need a qb to get the ball downfield. That's where Mallett comes in.

we shall see......if the pats see what you say, then they would not have drafted mallet.

this idea that grabbing him and turning him into a 1st rounder is something for those who don't like him to latch into. the current team as staffed has no chance to make the playoffs with hoyer as starter.

I see Mallet winning a Superbowl in NE. Patriots eventual answer to Favre/ Aaron Rodgers.

I really hope this doesn't excite Patriots nation too much. Until Brady clearly shows a decline, and I don't consider last night as an example of that despite the loss, I don't think we should be looking past the last few years we have with him. For all we know Mallett could be the start of another late 80s/early 90s era, so let's just enjoy our time with Brady please.

P.S. I do like Mallett a lot and think he will do a fine job, im just saying don't jump the boat yet.
