just back home in Charlestown, RI from the Razor....drained...great game...got a lot of questions I'll need to answer with the tape replay BUT I don't think Suggs made a play all game...Matt Light, I salute you sir....

I went to the 2009 Ravens game....left frozen stiff...Brady looked horrible....today he didn't really look that much better as far as decision making goes.6 minutes left and BJGE running hard every series and you throw it deep to Slater???? SLATER????? WTF....anybody think Ocho will play in the SB?

Gotta tell you people who watched on TV....we had receivers WIDE OPEN all game...Hernandez could not be covered...Brady hung Gronk out to dry more than once...really...I was in the 200's at the 30 yard line south had a good line of sight...worst I've seen Brady play all season...maybe the D scheme had a little to do with it...they were clogging the middle as a rule....just don't get the decisions by Brady at key points...we should have had a comfortable lead in the 1st half.

Doesn't matter though...JUST WIN BABY!!

I said it in the Game thread, but I'll re-iterate it here. The Pats didn't deserve to win. It was only by the grace of God or MHK that Cundiff shanked that FG.

That being said. Sterling Moore should be the Player of the game for his key plays today. The 2 plays at the end of the game were HUGE and saved the Pats..

We saw way too much of Ihedigbo out there, in my opinion.

The Play call after Spikes Interception was absolutely stupid. The running game had been working very well to that point. You should have run the ball and mixed it with some play-action, which the Ravens were biting on at that point. Going deep like that should have cost the Pats the game.

Hopefully this is a lesson for SUPERBOWL...

The crowd seemed awesome. It looked like if the Patriots just could have reeled in 1 TD in the 1st and go up by 10 the Ravens were going to keel over. They even replaced Flacco in the huddle. I think it is better for the Patriots to win this ugly game than role through though. Thanks for the game report.

look the d made a play, but tom brady cant keep playing like that, that deep pass to slater was a bonehead play..... that was a drew play... sorry to offend the drew backers.. but he didnt play his best.... bottom line this team is going to indy in a very lucky game.... but that play could have come back to haunt them....

After David Tyree's velcro helmet catch..we can take all the luck we get and more...

Hey guys I have no life and always watch BB and TFB pressers and after watching BB today, IMO he really seems emotional after the game:

Bill Belichick Postgame Presser - 1/22/2012

thoughts?

I wouldn't say "emotional" but I would say that I've never heard him more positive about the team as a team. Kept coming back to their mental toughness, work ethic and togetherness -- even contrasting their attitude with "some other years I can remember". :rocker:

Florio has a great article on why the NFL did not call for a replay on the Evans non-TD.

League defends decision not to review Evans non-catch | ProFootballTalk

In the endzone there does not have to be a football move. So Evans' had to have hung onto the football and gotten his second foot down, which he did not. Case closed.

Of course we are going to be called cheaters for this.

Re: Wow! Just.....WOW!

Wow, that right there (Pats/Ravens) is why we watch the game. The Pats didn't play their best, they lost the turnover battle yet again.......the Ravens barely miss out on a game winning TD (thank you Sterling Moore)....and then, defying all the odds, the kicker misses the field goal.......and absolute pandemonium in my house

We all jumped around yelling. Mine was a delayed reaction, I saw what appeared to be a missed kick, but I didn't celebrate until I actually saw the ref's arms signal 'no good'. From there, I lost it, I was cheering throughout the house. I picked up my one year old son, and I just lost it. I was shedding tears of joy.

Can I hear from the others who happen to have tears of joy today?

So I'm the idiot who booked his flight to Chicago to leave at 1:20. And the weather had it delayed till 2:45. The flight was half empty but there were no TVs and the crew didn't even think to update us on the game. In the end, we touched down with the Patriots at the goalline and the touchdown call reversed.

By the time I'm in the terminal, Brady has sneaked in and I found a bar to see the rest of the game. The guy next to me was a 9ers fan hoping to see some of the game before his flight but two seats away was someone in a Bruschi jersey.

The Ravens seemed to be able to run it at will but things looked good with the Spikes interception. Then came the most boneheaded play I've seen for a long time from Brady. Since when did Slater ever catch a long bomb? When covered? When double covered? EEEYAA!!!

Anyway, it was obviously all my fault for not being a good enough fan, so I took off my suit jacket, went into my bag and got my Bruschi jersey on.

What's this strange guy with a Limey accent and a suit doing shouting and hugging strangers? I'm sorry for you, Billy Cundiff and Lee Evans, but it was fated ...

Looking at the box score, we were outgained by 68 yards. We lost the turnover battle by 2. No big returns. How the heck did we win lol

Wow... what a topsy turvy game from the Patriots.

The offense was inconsistent, Brady did not play up to his usual standards, and the defense rose to the occasion and made plays, a scenario we fans have not seen much of lately... the defense picking up the slack for the offense.

A few observations:

1) Moore made the play of his life knocking the ball out of Evans hands before he could complete the process of the catch.

2) Wilfork was absolutely dominant today. Nuff said.

3) Gronk's ankle bears watching. Glad he was able to come back in and finish the game. I assume they will know more after X rays and that he will be really sore tomorrow. Hope the trainers get him ready for the game of his life in Indy. Patriots will need him.

4) Brady. The look in his eyes at the podium during the post-game press conference said it all. He was heated, and is really beating himself up over his poor performance. To be outplayed by Flacco, he will not tolerate that. I expect he is probably breaking down his performance as I write this. That is the type of competitor he is and I fully expect him and the offense to execute much better against either NY/SF.

5) That missed field goal was rather surreal. My immediate thoughts following it were on the late Mrs. Kraft, and perchance there was some sort of "intervention" on that kick.

Apologies if I have reiterated topics or thoughts previously canvassed in this thread.

Congrats to the Patriots, Patriots Nation, and all of you who make posting and perusing posts on this site so enjoyable.

Brady did have a bad game, by his standards, but I think that should be expected against the Ravens. He never has a good game against them. I swear Ed Reed is just in his head.

Couldn't really see open receivers from the broadcast.

Defense. Shockingly.

Great showing. Wilfork led the way but Spikes and Mayo aren't getting enough credit. These guys had enormous games.

What everyone is missing is that catch is NOT reviewable. If it was ruled a TD,it would have been, but inc passes are not.Even Harbaugh acknowledged this after the game.Evans relaxed after he made the catch and it cost his team the championship......Tough break, but he should have secured it......on another note....why did Harbaugh rush that FG attempt?........should have used his timeout, imho.

Not quite: inside of 2 min, neither coach can challenge, but the replay assistant can highlight any call that could have been challenged had it happened earlier.

I was surprised it wasn't reviewed just like Harbaugh. I didn't think it was a catch though. I don't think our fans know how close that was to a catch. If he would of gotten his other foot down 3 or so inches it would of been a catch.

I was kinda surprised it wasn't reviewed also since it was under 2 minutes to play. Had Harbaugh called a Time Out, it probably would have been reviewed.

whatever.... the truth of the matter is , it was luck... but brady even said he sucked today... he cant play like that in 2 weeks...

OK, King of the obvious.

This is false. You CAN challenge the ruling on the field of an incomplete pass. It's been done PLENTY. Particularly in cases of catches on the sidelines.

The only problem is it won't shut the Ravens up. They'll claim all the next year that they were the better team, Pats were Lucky, yada, yada, yada. They are 1-7 against TB and still think they are the better team.

Just a minor correction. They Patriots are 7-1 all-time against the Ravens. Brady is only 5-1 against the Ravens.

After being able to see it again in slow motion it was a good call. It was not a catch. Very close but 100% not a catch.

I'm sitting here watching my DVR replay....you guys must have been going crazy with questions about the coverage by the Ravens...this LOOKS a lot tighter than what I actually SAW from the stands...I think the fact that Brady had receivers as primaries that were covered well and didn't check down to the wide open WR's I saw AT the game live speaks to what was going on in his head...and anytime your first look is Edelman or Slater...well...I HAVE to question WTF kind of game plan that is....you have Herndo as a weapon and your primary with 6 minutes left is a Slater???? I sincerely hope this was not called from up in the box....this better be a BOB play call...
