Last years' Colts are the only worse 14-2 team than this years Chargers. Pats win convincingly this week. The score may be somewhat close, but outcome will always seem secure. Pats 28 Chargers 17.

Charger fans so clearly are not used to sniffing success. Pats are taking number 4 this year.

Now this is just silly. SD is a scary team.

Devaluing a team only makes it less impressive if you beat them and more embarrassing if they win.

Well that must be why coaches always talk about the other team like they are worldbeaters. I'm not worried about the Pats focus though. Us fans can afford to look at the stats and say, hey we should beat these guys.

I'm sure BB will be working on the specifics of how to accomplish that though. Can't wait to see this game!

I think NE can beat them and give them a 60% shot to do so. But I still think SD earned every one of their wins.

foolish thread..... i'm the biggest of pats fans but the chargers could say the same thing about the pats with a come from behind win with detroit.

Grogan... I haven't lashed out at anyone here out of respect for the Pats and just people in general. But... you're a clown. Big nose, big feet, honking a horn, driving a little car full of midgets... scaring little kids at birthday parties... creepy and pretty much just a loser.

How's that for not being cordial?

Why do you insist on starting these "smack bait' threads every night? The Chargers are as good a team that we have played in the playoffs since we played the Steelers in 2004.

You really don't have to continue to prove how dumb you can be.

yeah...i guess the pats are alot worse than their 13-4 record too since they lost on the road 21-0 to a 6-10 team...good logic

That isn't a extreme statement by any means. SD's strength-of-victory is only .424 this year, same as the Colts last year. If you look at the strength-of-victory for each team that's won in the AFC divisional playoffs the last 3 years, it's always been higher than the losing team. Guess what? New England has a .469 strength-of-victory this season

I wonder what the excuse will be when San Diego loses to us. I know "We beat ourselves, they didn't beat us!" Or has that been used already?

If you compare strength of schedule and flip it around, ie make the Chargers play a much tougher shedule this year and hand the Pats a cupcake schedule you can easily see the records being reversed. I don't think it's a stretch to think the Chargers might lose 2 more games and the Pats would win 2 more games.

When it comes right down to it even a 1 game swing would pit these teams as virtually even. So I really don't see how Chargers fans can convince themselves that their team is entirely above us and unbeatable all of a sudden.

yet you lost to denver at home...and the fins shut you out

our only two losses are to playoff teams and by 15 fewer points than one whole loss you had...

anyway, stats are meaningless come sunday, just something to laugh about leading up to the game

it's going to be a fun one.

thank god it's in san diego and we have a good crowd this season who causes false starts whew

we already know your excuses after you guys get blown out sunday

steroids haha

Dude, ease up on Merriman. It's not his fault that evil unregulated supplement company slipped $150 worth of Nandrolone in his $25 tub of whey protein powder.

Have a heart man.

Yes but SD got to play Oakland twice! When you consider that, SD looks no better than the Pats. I think they have a good chance of winning Sunday if the Pats turn the ball over but thankfully the Pats seem to have gotten that habit out of their blood stream (I still cringe though every time Watson catches the ball though). That being the case, I think that the Pats are battle-tested and the Chargers are novices when it comes to Playoff football (and their coach has a dubious playoff record himself). In a close game (which I expect...a blow out would be very out of character), look for the Pat's experience to be the deciding factor.
