Bring on the Ravens

This is not towards all Pat fans but for the one's who are saying the Ravens D is old and slow need I remind you that "old and slow" D is ranked top 5 in defense and where is your D ranked?

Yes the record is mainly because of Brady and his amazing ability but the Ravens D cant be that old and slow or we wouldn't have won 5 games according to most analyst and fans.

You take Brady away from your team and what do you have? lol

I of course speak from a respect standpoint and its okay to be confident but when it comes to defenses the Patriots have no room to talk because your now the worse ranked defense remaining in the playoffs.

I am not saying we win but this is football and you never know what will happen with any game. Brady or Flacco could tear their ACL the very first play of the game and if that happened Baltimore would still be confident because we know our defense can carry us to victory are you sure your D could?

Good point, our defense is "ranked" last in this tournament by yards given. Guess where our offense ranks?

I'm sorry but without Rice, that offense is as bad as our defense. Flacco is putrid at best. That oline is very shaky. Rice is the best thing that offense has. Flacco could not drive the ball downfield at all. The only TDs scored were off bonehead plays and turnovers by Texans to give the offense good field position.

Still, the Ravens are a tough out for any team. People can say "old and slow" all they want, Ravens are def a top tier defense.

I'm just glad we have Brady, he likes playing against top tier defenses.

What is "lol"? The Patriots have it? I don't understand your shorthand. "Lots of leverage"? "Large offensive linemen"? Yes, our offensive line is big, but what are you trying to say?

No ... really? So you're not confident and think you'll lose?

Brady or Flacco could tear their ACL the very first play of the game and if that happened Baltimore would still be confident because we know our defense can carry us to victory are you sure your D could?

But ... But why would Brady or Flacco tear their own ACL the first play of the game? So if Brady tore his own ACL your defense would still be confident? What if he doesn't tear his own ACL? What happens to your defense then? Also, why would your defense be confident if Flacco tore his ACL?

Sheesh, I guess Jets fans have some competition after all.

Its a good thing none of us play for the Patriots!

But the Ravens play to the competition. They lose to mediocre teams like Jacksonville and Tennessee then sweep the Steelers. The only game they really played bad was at the Chargers, Rivers destroyed that defense.

And if Rivers can do that at home, so can the Patriots. All everyone is talking is that 2009 playoff game but forget we've beaten them since that game already. Such dummies and their feeble minds. This will be a good game nonetheless.

It's not about playing for the Patriots. It's about stupid posts completely dismissing a team in the AFCCG.

And, using your logic, if the Ravens can beat the Steelers, they can beat the Patriots.

Actually the Giants own that designation. 25th in scoring defense. The next time a team wins a game because they had more yards than the other team will be a first. Yards standing on there own are meaningless.

And although your defense has looked old and slow at times it does have some young talent. However, don't act as if the Ravens defense has played a murderers row of NFL offenses. The lone top 5 offense the Ravens played didn't have to hard of a time scoring on them.

That same offense scored 21 against the worst defense to ever step on a football field.

Ravens have ONE scary player on offense. Rice. Smith is coming on but young and Boldin is decent but well past his prime. Pats have a few more scary options I think, including our DAMN QB!!!

Its out game to lose, period.

They can beat the Patriots whether they beat the Steelers or not. I'm just saying. I never overlook a team, especially in the playoffs, we agree there.

But people keep saying, "who has the Pats played?" and by that same token, who has the Ravens really played with a good offense like this?

A couple of things.
Take Ray Rice away from your team and what do you have? lol.
Chung and Spikes missed half the season and are now healthy. If you want to believe the Patriots are that bad on defense then we'll see how that translates to Baltimore points.

You cherry picked the players getting injured and the side of the ball they play on. How about if Ed Reed can not perform due to his ankle injury.

I see some of you know this game is going to be close game. Whoever thinks the Pats are just going to roll the Ravens must not be paying attention. This is the AFC championship game. This game will come down to the last few minutes.

Also, I see alot Flacco bashing. Flacco had a good game yesterday against a very good Texans D. No he's not elite but all this hate for him is ridiculous. It's just seems like its the trendy thing to do anymore. Even with our fans.

One thing to keep in mind is the Texans defense is far superior than the Pats defense. Flacco will have time to throw and can pick apart a very poor Pats secondary.

Either way should be a good game. If we play our game I like our chances.

Please don't use "Flacco" and "Pick apart" in the same sentence if you want to be taken seriously.

About the only thing that Flacco could "pick apart" is a roasted chicken.
and even that left the chicken unimpressed

Ray Rice scares the hell out of me. Screens, draws, off tackle or wherever. Stop Ray Rice and take your chances with everyone else.

Some LOL comments from ravens fans

I think Joe makes a statement this game. 300+ yards 3 TDs. This will be the easiest "defense" (or whatever they call it over there) we have seen all year so it should be our best offensive performance all year.

This should shut the Patriots fans up:

- All the Patriots wins have come against teams that didn't have a winning record.

- The Two teams they played against that had winning records, the Steelers and Giants, Patriots are 0-2.

Ravens don't have a losing record, and as far as I know we have actually beat playoff teams and beat teams with a winning record, something the Patriots haven't done. So Patriots fans have nothing to talk about.

One thing you fail to mention is who wants it more. Games are different each week, with different people playing well and different results. But if you want to talk strictly about matchups, we have an O line that struggled vs the Texans, but you guys have no one in your front 7 that comes close to Reed, Watt and even Demeco Ryans. You also have no one in your secondary like J. Joseph, who handled Torrey yesterday. Can you cover Torrey? Can you block Suggs? Suggs wants him some Brady, and ask anyone on this message board. They'll tell you Sizzle shows up in the biggest games.

Secondly, yes we can score 30 points because we did it against the Steelers in week 1, the Rams (who have a better defense than you statwise) and the Bengals.

And as far as revenge.....you fail to mention that the last time the Ravens were in Foxborough period, we blew a 10 point fourth quarter lead in a loss that hurt like hell.

If anyone's pissed off, it's the Ravens.

I'm glad we're facing the Pats for the AFC Championship. For every Ravens fan sick of hearing the talking heads put this team down (be it the defense is too old, the offense is inconsistant, Flacco can't throw with the best) this game has the potential to put all that noise to rest.

Pats fans can bash Flacco all they want, here's the facts. Last time these two faced off.. Flacco outperformed (statistically atleast, since we ended up losing in OT) Brady.

Flacco: 27/35 - 285 Yards - 2 TDS - 0 INT
Brady: 27/44 - 292 Yards - 1 TD - 1 INT

So much more LOL to post

Yup, they go as he goes.

IMO, the Pats Defense needs to do three things to ensure a win:

1. Contain Rice
2. Pressure Flacco
3. Keep everything in front of the safeties. Don't let Flacco hit Smith over the top.

If they do those three things it will be a long day for the Ravens.

Found this gem as well

man, I ilived in Boston for 8 years and the fans there were just awful. Horrid football experience up there. No matter who the Pats play, they suck. Bottom line. They do not budge from this mentality. Belichick and Brady blah blah blah. The Cheatriots have lost all respect for me based on the way the arrogant fans act. They act entitled and it is overly obnoxious.

It was probably the greatest thing in Football when they lost that perfect season to the Giants and the whole spygate fiasco. Such a black eye for the whole organization. Next awesomest thing was when we went up there and punched 'em in the mouth, ofcourse I lived in New York by then so I didn't get to relish in the moment but it was still awesome.

Bottom line is the Pats are good but they have had problems in the playoffs for a few years now.

I think our defense which is similar to Pittsburgh is a good matchup for Brady. When Brady is frustrated he rushes the ball and with no running game really this season I think the Ravens D can create havoc for them.

This is our season. Screw the Pats. I am not worried one bit about "The GrOnk" or Hernandez or even Brady. They have not played this Ravens or any team like them. The book is out on beating the Pats for years now. All we gotta do is execute.

Tom Brady has consistantly shown he turns to Jello under pressure, allowing for several picks and bad decisions.

And Flacco hasn't? God these fans are pretty bad...

The San Diego game was an embarrasment, but i wouldnt bet on that happening again in that fashion. San Diego abused the corners 1-on-1 on the outside with bombs to their big strong sreceivers, which are different than what NE has at WR. Ryan Matthews also did some damage, and he's better than the Pats rbs. Im glad they got that beating, hopefully Jimmy Smith, Cary Williams and Chuck Pagano learned from it. Also the best corner Webb only played a few snaps at nickel because of injury that game

Ok, let's break down something quickly:

Who stops Welker
Who stops Gronk
Who stops Hernandez

We shall see. But don't plan on just copying what Chargers did

"We shall see. "

Really?

You're talking about how things aren't going to happen, and your reasoning is "we shall see?".

Go back to the Ravens forums if that's all you've got.

Thanks for the informative post. I don't think you will see everything in the middle of the field. I expect them to challenge them on the outside. A couple of things that would not surprise me.

1. Hernandez lining up outside a lot to challenge Williams and Smith. Hopefully Williams, IMO he is the weakest link in your secondary. I assume Webb will be on Welker.

2. I will probably get flamed for this and possibly rightly so. But because of what the Chargers receivers did to the Ravens corners. If I'm Bob and Josh I put in a small package of plays for Ocho. Keep it simple, no reads, just straight routes and attack the Ravens defense outside the numbers with it. If nothing else it makes Reed have to take the outside seriously. Possibly loosening up the middle for Gronk and Welker.

I'm not a huge Mathews fan. So I say this with some personal bias against him. But don't underestimate the New England run game. I'm not saying they are going to line up and pound it 30 times or anything, but they will run the ball. And they threw in a new wrinkle Saturday night with Hernandez lining up at RB. If they get the Ravens in Dime, by going five wide, the Pats will most definitely do everything they can to keep them in it. And now they have shown a willingness to go unconventional and run against it with Hernandez. Also Branch showed he still has a little bit left in the tank.

Watching the Ravens-Texans game it sure looked to me like the team with the brutal pass rush was Houston, and they kept Ray Rice from gaining much of anything for 3+ quarters. And Flacco was just as mediocre as always.

If the Ravens want to have a chance of beating the Pats they' ll have to generate a helluva lot better pass rush than what they did last Sunday. If they can't put Brady on his back you might as well forget it.

Nothing would put a smile on my face more than listening to their scum ***** and moan as per usual after losing to us.

It must be the refs!

Watching the Chargers-Ravens game reinforced to me how badly the Ravens secondary can be beaten over the top. I doubt the Patriots will employ that mentality, but the big play opportunities are there.

Which is why I think they should put in a small package of simple routes for Ocho/Underwood. Some jets, play action post routes etc... I think that could loosen up the defense especially if they are stopping everything over the middle early on. They need to keep ol' Ed guessing.
