Globe hit job on BB

That Globe writer embellished that incident to make it sound much worse than it was, with that "eye close to the camera" crap.It wasnt that bad at all, maybe a bit over the top for BB,he apologized, the photographer took the high road, end of story.

I don't read the Globe but I've never heard of BRIAN MCGRORY. Anyone know if this guy exists or is it just a pseudonym for Borges?

Here's what I wrote:
When on earth will the media in Boston get over trying to make Bill Belichik a bad guy? What purpose does this article serve, exactly? "Gratuitously slamming a camera into the face of a photographer" is quite a bit over the top, since we all saw the shove and while it was something I'm sure he would like to take back, it was done in the heat of the moment when this guy had just gotten off a three hour roller coaster ride and then had to wade through the media-driven circus "handshake" mob. To imply Belichick maliciously decided to assault someone really takes the prize for the slanderous nonsense the likes of Borges et al at your "newspaper" like to spew out weekly, and the closer it gets to a big game for the Patriots the more venomous the articles become. By the way, he realized his error and promptly apologized, I don't believe he needs the Krafts to teach him class. Read up on the man and you'll see the charity work he has been involved with for YEARS, pretty classy in my opinion.
I am glad to live in Florida today, where we will cheer for the Gators and root for their coach to win, and our media will not be in the background sniping about some petty nonsense and hoping it all falls apart so it will give them better, bitter stories to write.

This is a little OT for the thread, but in that BSM piece the writer says about Asante Samuel:

Samuel’s words are his ticket out of town – that’s almost a given. He broke the “Patriots code of silence” on contract matters. It wouldn’t have mattered when they came public, his future is now determined.

Say what? Didn't Ty Law return for another highly paid season after his feed-my-family attack on Belichick? It's clear that you can't use the media to talk your way into big bucks from the Patriots, but don't expect to talk your way out of town, either. It's all part of the same cool, level-headed approach to business. They pay for what you can do, not what you say.

There's not a single member of the Globe's star-studded stable of photographers who hasn't been jostled while doing the job

That sort of thing makes it look almost satirical. What a joke. Even better is that they must have written it thinking that it would represent the feelings of their readers.

I hadn't seen the "violent, abusive" incident until I saw the Youtube clip that the author of this piece included with his "article," and, now that I have, I think the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion.

By adding the link to the clip, McGrory discredits the rest of his depiction of the incident. He's kind of a ****, and not a very good reporter if that is the feeling anyone gets after reading his article.

not that I expect anything to come of it, but here is my email to that clown:
Nice. Here's what I sent:

"Davis, the consummate professional, refuses to make a big deal of the incident."

You, however, nadiral hack writer, revels in making a big deal of the incident. Your column says more about you than Belichick. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Wonder if we can get immature response as from Borges. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Yes he does exist. My mother has met him, and he gave a gracious and interesting talk at one of her church functions. Nevertheless, I sent him a personal email myself to let him know that I thought the article was both unfair and unnecessary.

So?

You love football which is a contact sport in most places and THAT shove has your panties in a twist?
He's a Charger fan. A girlie-guy. When you're a girlie-guy, contact scares you. "Mommy, he pushed me. Wah wah wah. Where are my golf clubs?"

I gave McGrory a piece of my mind just to let him know that City&Region writers should stick to writing about crap only 80 year old widows give a shyt about and that what BB does isn't his concern.

What if Jim Davis or any of the crushing mob of paparazzi had injured either Belichick or Mangina? Do you think the reporter would apologize? Heck no, the difference between Jim Davis and Bill Belichick is that Bill Belichick had a right to be where he was and Jim Davis didn't.

My letter to McGrory and the Globe:

Brian,

Your column today was a reach, and unfair. I was at Sunday's game and watched the incident you decry from beginning to end through binoculars. Perhaps it hasn't occurred to you that Jim Davis might be suspect of committing the cardinal sin of any journalist: carelessly putting himself in position to become part of the story he's there to cover. (Unfortunately, I've observed Globe reporters do similar things time and again over the years so perhaps you folks feel you're "above it all" just as you accuse Belichick of being.)
Davis was walking backward in the path of Belichick, literally altering the course of the event he was there to cover. Granted, Belichick let his frustration get the better of him and behaved inappropriately in shoving Davis. But under these circumstances -- an intensely personal moment for the coach after a very intense, hard-fought playoff game with much on the line -- his reaction is understandable, if not totally justified.
By calling Belichick "a boor of the highest order," "one cheap - shot artist standing in judgment of another," claiming "he dresses like he's from Appalachia and has the personality of a wet mop" is piling on with undue zeal and totally out of context.
Jim Davis was not beyond reproach in this incident and neither was Belichick, yet the coach did apologize and the apology was accepted. Did Davis apologize for getting in his way?
You are in a position to lend reasoned and balanced perspective to stories like this but succumbed to doing a hatchet job on the coach. You, Brian McGrory, dropped the ball.

This is just an opportunity for the Globe to make Belichick and the Pats look bad. They hate everything about the Pats because the Pats are standing in the way of their plan, which is to promote the Red Sox.

My letter to McGrory and the Globe:

Very nicely done -- you take him to task without launching an uppercut of your own. Makes a much bigger impact than calling names.

Amazingly well put, Tunescribe - That's verbal murder right there and you did it in a classy fashion, too.

Quite true. But calling names is so much fun

Hard to believe, but his cousin Mary was actually a good writer.

Actually he was physically preventing the story he was trying to cover.
