Have mercy. I might be in the minority, I can't stand these two. They are not as insufferable as that other group, but they always say stuff that make steam come out of my ears.

Where's flex scheduling when you want it, eh?

Off topic, When I downloaded the Pat/Broncos highlights from iTunes, I was shocked at how much I liked the Broncos radio team. They were very insightful, professional, and not over the top. They made me realize how much I hate the Jets and Colts radio guys. I hate radio guys who scream, and or call the players by their first names. "Peyton hands off to Joseph" or "Peyton throws deep to Marvin" used to make me cringe. The Broncos guys were pretty damned good.

I had the Broncos radio broadcast on my phone on Sunday. They are wonderful to listen to. If Gil retired today, I'd replace him with the Broncos' pbp guy.

I do like these two broadcasting teams. They are far better than the others CBS offers. Far better than Fox and ESPN offers.

That being said, Jim Nantz has a bigger crush on Tebow over Brady.

I've always liked Simms and Nantz. At least compared to most teams

There isn't a broadcasting crew I really love, but Nantz and Simms are better than most. At least they don't say they don't say things that make you want to throw stuff at the TV screen like Dumbledorf does. I can't stand Diedorf or the two kiss arsers on MNF (Gruden and Jaws who are great in studio analysts, but horrible color guys). Nantz and Simms are kinda bland, but rarely say anything incredibly stupid or pandering.

Personally, I reserve just about all of my announcer hatred for Joe Buck and Cris Collinsworth. Everyone else just falls into a "yeah, they kinda suck, but oh well" zone.

Collinsworth is on the same level as Joe Buck?

C'mon, Buck is worse than the Colts radio guy...and that's bad

BTW, one plus about the game being on CBS is that we don't have to listen to Bob Costas' pius and condescending half time monologue which only shows that the guy knows absolutely nothing about football.

Honestly, I love Nantz and Simms.

I dont have a problem with them. At least they are knowledgeable and not blatant Patriot haters. Simms even played on the Giants with BB for 11 years. That could add to the commentary.

Good question. I'm not sure if Collinsworth or Buck is worse. Probably Collinsworth since I'm forced to watch him every week on Sunday night and Buck is mostly on NFC games.

Is there a commentator anybody wants to listen to? It seems everybody has a problem with any of them except if they are retired .

A week of Cross & Criqui has left me in a mood to count my blessings:

Thank you, broadcast powers, for any announcers who aren't painfully incompetent.

(How could they not realize that Gronk was going for the record, while the Patriots sideline was erupting in wild celebrations over an otherwise meaningless catch? How???)

Buck is play by play

Collinsworth is color

Their roles are different with Collinsworth being more opinionated which is his job.

Sometimes Buck steps over the line but he is regarded as one of the best play by play guys on TV. 95% he goes along with Aikman's opinion which he needs to do.

Well, at least Cross has let everyone including Matt Light know that they have gotten his name wrong all these years and his name is really Todd Light. It was driving Light's mother crazy all these years that he called himself Matt instead of his given name of Todd.

I always thought Jim calling Matt Light "Todd' was hilarious. He has been doing it for close to a decade. He called Light Todd last year.

Give me Gus Johnson and I'd be a happy camper. That guy could announce lawn mowing and make it exciting.

Well, If you are going to call Randy Cross "Jim", isn't it fair for Cross to call Matt Light "Todd"?

What's the big deal? I usually put Gil and Gino on the radio and synch the TV to their call of the game and pour a big tall glass of whatever Gino seems to be having in the booth so I can follow along and descend into oblivion at about the same pace as the opposition.

Gil Santos has the best voice for football in the US. The NFLN and Showtime guys use his play-by-play a lot in their recaps of Patriots games.

Just mute the TV and log on to the game thread to see everybody freaking out with a 30 to 60 second delay. People go berserk here about what happened three plays ago.

Oh dang. I thought you were talking about Jim Nantz. I didn't know Randy called Light "Todd Light" too.

Randy is the one who is famous for calling Light Todd. The ironic thing is Randy has been doing the Pats' preseason games for nearly a decade and still calls him Todd.

I like Simms. They are the same we had the last time we played Denver in the playoffs. And I can still hear, in my head, him saying, "Ohh there's going to be a lot of talk about this. You know how I always say there's no such thing as a late flag? That was a late flag. You might say he cut off the receiver. No, he was in good position. Ashley Lelie cut off Asante Samuel." I'll take Simms any day. I can't take Dierdork or Cris Collinsworth. Their despise of BB and all things Patriots is too obvious and constant.
